ilkhan4··on Ask HN: How would you design an enterprise (B2B) user permissioning system?
Authentication or authorization? If it's the latter, I'd model it on what AD/LDAP do: folders/OUs for hierarchy, groups for crossing hierarchy boundaries, then users and securables as objects in the directory. Then on top of that, be able to assign permissions such that node (OU/group/user) -> can-do-action -> other node. Then child nodes inherit permissions as well. We're using something similar in a system I worked on and sys admins and end users are pretty comfortable with it since it used the same paradigms they're used to. You can also use the same thing for multi-tenancy by just creating OUs for tenants.

For authentication, whatever supports ADFS, SAML and/or OIDC. It's a big plus when they can use existing credentials or SSO into your system from theirs.

ilkhan4··on AWS AppSync releases no-code GraphQL API builder, HTTP resolvers, new scalars
I've been using AppSync for about 4 months on a project for work and it's mostly been positive once you get your head wrapped around resolver mapping. I've also incorporated serverless-appsync for deployment which makes it much nicer than the built-in UI.
ilkhan4··on Ask HN: What is the best way to future proof a new home your about to build?
Run conduit to all the main rooms, on multiple walls if possible. That way you can run any amount of Cat5 or whatever future cable you want.

Failing that, as much Cat5e/Cat6 as you can afford. There are boxes to convert between every imaginable cable type to Cat5e so you can use them for more than networking if needed.

ilkhan4··on Ask HN: Anyone else in South Carolina?
Yep, I'm in the Greenville area. It's not quite Silicon Valley, but I've found the Upstate to have a pretty good tech industry, at least compared to Florida where I came from.
ilkhan4··on Tesla to unveil D and other product on October 9th
Dual motor would make it AWD. The current Model S is a single motor RWD.
ilkhan4··on Why choose Xamarin?
Unless I'm mistaken, MonoCross isn't a replacement for Xamarin (formerly Monotouch and Monodroid). It's a layer on top that abstracts the platforms differences. You'd still need a Xamarin.iOS and/or Xamarin.Android license to use it.

SEEKIING WORK - Greenville, SC or remote

I'm a full-stack developer with about 12 years of experience, mostly in Microsoft-based stuff (C# and ASP.NET MVC/Web API is my current comfort zone), but I'm also dabbling in Node and PhoneGap (and Xamarin!). I also prefer git and Angular for front-end stuff so I'm not completely brainwashed. Lots of database experience with SQL Server, but I also like CouchDB and MongoDB as well. Oh, and I've done SharePoint too if that helps (or hurts).

I can help you design and develop your MVP with a design, spec and deployment plan, or I can just help you fill in the areas you're missing on your dev team.

SEEKING WORK - Remote or Greenville, SC

Looking for part-time work to build out a portfolio. I have done mostly corporate work but I'm looking to get out on my own a little bit more. This means I need more experience to show but that's kind of hard when your employer owns the source :) Chicken/egg and all that.
