This is the best interview I have seen with him https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6NpHbMFaQ8

I can't stand his personality on Twitter but techmeme is useful. I suspect, as this article touch on, he is not as mean spirited in meat space.

Shaq believes the world is flat[0], I would still take his advice on how to play basketball. I think its necessary to compartmentalize peoples believes away from advice in the area there experts in. This only goes so far, if Richard Spencer wanted to teach me how to hit a hole in one in golf I'm good, he is a bad person and those views are too abhorrent to consider his other opinions.

How far off are we from 8K gaming?

Because of the heat or something else?

"Hacker News has 3.4 million users per month and 350,000 users per day, with 4 million pageviews a day. There are just under 1 million registered accounts, with several hundred added each day. Users post around 1,000 articles and 6,000 comments to the site per day."

First time I have seen those numbers, very impressive. I thought there were a lot less users.

Quick spelling correction I think you mean Clojure. You got me searching for a new programming language that has a namespace conflict with a programming concept :) .

I am slowly working my way through CS50 on EDX and its an interesting experience doing an intro to CS type course in C for sure.

What do you mean saying "This is why people in nice but cheap places are so afraid of Californians."?

Is this the YC MOOC? I have not heard anything about it being canceled but if its still going I would love to know when its coming out.

Calling this a terrible idea is such a typical garbage HN response. Its a cheap creative idea that someone put up for sale. Don't like it don't use it but I am sure it will sell to a bunch of customers that like it a lot.

You misinterpreted iaw's response. Its an analogy that Azure is IBM for the cloud.

another vote for https://www.gwern.net/

Just wanted to say thats an AWESOME side project!!

I think this is all Peter Thiel speaking highly of Elon to Trump

When are the mutlibillion dollar lawsuits that cause these idiots to get it together with security

Hope you can get past all of that soon friend.

I don't have experience with DigitalOcean support but there tutorial/help pages are indeed very useful, I have used them a lot.

Its an issue for DigitalOcean that if someones trying to install MongoDB on Ubuntu they can still use any VPS provider they want. The instructions that DO provides are not platform specific to them.

I still do want DigitalOcean to succeed though, I think there great and still love there product. I think building an S3 competitor(Not expandable volume storage) would make them more competitive. Its still going to be really tough though, right now any side project is going to be default on LightSail.

I really think Amazon is about to kill DigitalOcean with LightSail. I have already spun up a few instances from LightSail and its almost a carbon copy of DO but with the power of the AWS ecosystem behind it. I think its now the prefect platform for startups with still pretty minimal costs but the ability to have my Node app on LightSail storage resources on S3 and have a managed database with RDS is a no brainer. I think people are a little too worried about the difference of a few dollars between AWS and DO now and are missing the amount of traffic you could handle for less than 100$ a month with LightSail and the ability to more easily scale later on.

There seems to be so much vaporware around AI currently. It seems like theres a fair bit of it in this episode. Apart from that I thought it was a great doc.

I set up one of the orgs I work with on WPEngine, pretty good. Almost no intervention on my part and only $25 a month which is not bad considering the scale of there subscription business.

Your paying in CAD so assuming your in canada how do you find OVH, is there any north American severs? If not how is connection time to the website and general experiences with it? Cheers.

Yes. Rarely ever visit facebook.com . Unfollowed everyone before they released messenger.com but now use that primarily. The only other benefit of FB now is party invitations.

I too get the meat I prefer ever since I found this recipe,

I never realized how much more flavour your able to get out of chicken thighs. I highly recommend it!

>I didn't delete my facebook but I did unfollow every person and group on the app and it has been quite pleasurable to have an empty newsfeed.

Same. Now its just a messaging platform now, its great

I have listened to hundreds of hours of Noam Chomsky lectures and talks on Youtube. Even if you don't agree with his politics seeing what his perspective is on issues is always interesting.

Its funny to see this as Noam often remarks that there is an active ban on him being mentioned in the New York Times newspaper.

Sorry this comment does not have a ton of content but I cant find a posting date on the video, are these new?

my condolences
