iand675··on GHC 7.8.1 released
The other hard part about it is that Haskell's FFI doesn't support variadic functions in a friendly way, which makes argument passing that much trickier.
iand675··on Dotcloud becoming Docker
Sometimes you have to build products that make enough intermediate revenue to get you to where you're trying to go.
iand675··on Melatonin
Ditto for me as well.
iand675··on We scanned the Internet for port 22
Any other all-around good practices that you can recommend? I'm not really sure how to go about locking down a production server to a sane degree, and there's a lot of bad information out there when it comes to security.
iand675··on ZooKeeper vs. Doozer vs. Etcd
Not officially a Heroku project AFAIK, but Induction is essentially the same story: https://github.com/Induction/Induction

Open source polyglot database viewer built by Heroku guys, released with a lot of hype, and then radio silence.

iand675··on Introducing Private Networking
I was getting really close to switching to another cloud hosting provider due to the lack of private networks. Great to see that Digital Ocean is staying a step ahead.
iand675··on MongoDB Days
Genuine question: What are these use cases that MongoDB solves better? I'm a fan of several other non-relational databases, but I haven't really encountered any use-cases for MongoDB that make it seem like a good fit.
iand675··on Choosing a Programming Language
Another wrong issue in the article is that Haskell was not created with the intent of it being a general purpose programming language.
iand675··on Docker - the Linux container runtime
I'm not entirely sure that I understand what this does. Is it some sort of hybrid between provisioning automation and deployment automation?
iand675··on The Distributed Graph Database Titan Provides Real-Time Big Graph Data
Why is it that they aren't published? Competitive advantage?
iand675··on Having fun with Redis Replication between Amazon and Rackspace
In my experience, snappy with very small messages (< 200 bytes or so) can increase bandwidth usage, so I'd say the way in which one uses redis can impact if compression is useful or not.
iand675··on Are functional languages inherently slow?
I'd have to disagree, considering that GHC maintains similar speeds to Mono and JVM languages. The question was about functional languages being slower, but he didn't specify slower than what. If the unspecified alternative is imperative languages, then there are plenty of imperative languages that are slower in that graph and will likely never be as fast as Haskell. Granted, functional languages are never going to be as fast as low-level languages like C, but that doesn't mean they're necessarily slow either.
iand675··on The Minecraft API Is Now On Github
Is it just me, or is the only thing that the API currently supports banning?
iand675··on Are functional languages inherently slow?
No, see GHC here: http://shootout.alioth.debian.org/u32/which-programming-lang...

A lot of work goes into getting it that performant, but it's entirely doable with the right knowhow.

(Before anyone gets pedantic, I realize that languages aren't slow, just implementations of them, etc.)

iand675··on Make Things Now - pragmatic functional programming
Is there a recording of the talk anywhere?
