iamjustin··on What I Didn't Say
Both men and women were killed during the Salem Witch Trials. A "witch hunt" isn't terrorism against women.
iamjustin··on Having a Servant Is Not a Right
Oh my god, dude. I honestly didn't understand what you were getting at. I read more into the extra commentary than you intended.
iamjustin··on Having a Servant Is Not a Right
What are you saying? Just because they could be violent means they are violent?

There's no profession where someone couldn't act violently.

iamjustin··on Having a Servant Is Not a Right
Any person jailed just for selling drugs.
iamjustin··on Google announces ban on "multi-purpose" Chrome extensions
> Just not to Windows users.

Oh okay, so you'd just lose out on ~90% of the market?

iamjustin··on Harvard Student Charged In Bomb Hoax
Yeah, and they didn't even need the wrench.
iamjustin··on China lands Jade Rabbit robot rover on Moon
No informed/intelligent individual would debate that the moon landing was faked. It's absolutely absurd to believe the tech was around to fake a landing, but not actually land on the moon. There's no point in trying to convince every single person we landed there.
iamjustin··on Best Firefox Add-ons of 2013
From the Disconnect FAQ:

On Firefox, if Disconnect is the first blocking extension you install, then Disconnect will work even if you subsequently install other blocking extensions. On Chrome, Safari, and Opera, it's the opposite: in order for Disconnect to work on these browsers, it must be the most recent blocking extension installed.

Do you know what effect this has on extensions like Adblock Plus and NoScript? If I install Disconnect first, are those addons going to do less for me?

This is the first I've heard about installation order affecting how well the addons work. I'd like to make sure I've got the right info before informing others.

iamjustin··on China lands Jade Rabbit robot rover on Moon
I hope they stay away from the original landing site. It's the location of one of the most important events in human history, and it would be a shame to cause damage to it.
iamjustin··on Ask HN: Those making $1,000+/month on side projects - what did you make?
Now that's a service people will pay good money for!
iamjustin··on Firefox 26 is released
Yes, because of Chrome we no longer have to wait a ridiculous amount of time for new features. Do you remember how long it took for v4.0 to be ready?

Version numbers don't have to mean something. They're just numbers, after all.

iamjustin··on Firefox 26 is released
Yeah, Opera was really innovative for a while before it became another Chromium clone.
iamjustin··on Are Bitcoins the New Pogs? (No, really)
Could I transfer my Pogs anywhere in the world, in a matter of minutes, for an incredibly small fee? Were Pogs also a distributed public ledger? Was there any reason to use Pogs over the dollar?

If the answer is 'No', maybe you should re-think your position.

The amazing thing about Bitcoin is the network. Saying it's "the new pogs" shows a huge lack of understanding of what Bitcoin is.

iamjustin··on Senate Republicans block attempt to update firearms rules for 3D guns
Haha wordplay.
iamjustin··on A universal income is not such a silly idea
Then employers would have to pay people more than an extra 200 dollars.
iamjustin··on Bitcoin – How high can it go?
The transaction fees go to the miner who originally created the block, not just any miner who processes the transaction, and with increased difficulty to find new blocks, it's less likely for new miners (without paying for some really nice hardware) to ever see a cut of the transaction fees.
iamjustin··on Bitcoin – How high can it go?
There may not be any sudden changes in the rewards, but that doesn't change the fact that the rewards are decreasing, and with more people involved, the competition is increasing.

It's also pretty much impossible to CPU mine anymore, and with the addition of ASICs to the mining pool, even running a GPU miner is no longer profitable after calculating electricity costs.

I understand that you don't have to be mining to assist in verifying transactions, as simply running the bitcoin-qt client aids processing of transaction, but there no longer is a financial motivation to do so.

With an increase in the rate of transactions as the Bitcoin market continues to grow, it seems that the transaction speed will certainly slow down, and the security of the network will decrease.

If there is anyone here that can explain to me why I shouldn't be worried about this situation, I'd absolutely love to hear it. I'm bullish on Bitcoin, and I think there is still a good future for the currency, but I'm worried...

iamjustin··on Empty Mansions: Don’t be old and rich in New York City
Whoa, how about not putting words in my mouth, dude. I didn't say it was the same.
iamjustin··on Empty Mansions: Don’t be old and rich in New York City
Because there can be only one victim, right?
iamjustin··on Okay, Google, you officially beat Siri
I use an app called Bandsintown for this.
iamjustin··on In Bitcoin's Orbit: Rival Virtual Currencies Vie for Acceptance
Is Ripple seriously in the running to be the next Bitcoin? So many articles I read, news reports I watch, talk as if it is.

The company that started it holds half of them. Who (outsite of Ripple Labs) can honestly say that sounds like a good idea?

iamjustin··on Bitcoin $500
>It can only go down 100%

Isn't this true of all stocks/commodities? You can only lose 100% of your money.

iamjustin··on Humanity wasted 14,526 years watching Gangnam Style
The comparison to completion time of the Empire State Building, the Great Pyramid of Giza, etc, are dishonest. Those weren't completed by a single individual, so it doesn't make sense to compare it to all time spent by each person watching the video.
iamjustin··on US Government Monitoring Public Internet in Real Time

iamjustin··on Obama administration had restrictions on NSA reversed in 2011
>for when one party has dominance too long we get into situations like we are today.

Yeah, and right now it's the Democrat/Republican party.

You aren't going to change anything switching from Democrat>Republican or vice versa.

iamjustin··on New Snowden Leak Reports 'Groundbreaking' NSA Crypto-Cracking
>He probably hastily sent them a bunch of documents when he was worried that he would be sent back the USA

Really!? You think that's probably what he did? You believe that it's more likely than not that he got all flustered with the USA's response, and sent a bunch of documents to Greenwald that he didn't want released?

That's just absurd.

iamjustin··on Hyperloop
We shouldn't expect him to demonstrate his idea?
iamjustin··on Palo Alto bans vehicle dwelling
You shouldn't attempt to discredit his post because of one error.
