iamclovin··on Jon Stewart skewers Freemium iOS Games [video]
> I have a hard time imagining how the CEO did't see this coming. He either must not be familiar with the show at all, or must have some serious cognitive dissonance going on.

I think this applies to most interviewees on the Daily Show.

Looks like the link is broken. This one works though: https://plus.google.com/u/0/101960720994009339267/posts/ENuE...
iamclovin··on Your idea sucks now go do it anyway
Reed Hastings articulated it pretty well recently - "Companies rarely die from moving too fast, and they frequently die from moving too slowly."

iamclovin··on Lifepath.me on eBay
Slightly off-topic, (and I mean no snark), but how much of the Dustin Curtis brand factors in towards the price?

Or is this inexpensive?

I'm asking because we were thinking of selling one of our assets too and wanted to know what would be considered a fair price for a Rails app (which was once live and is now shuttered).

iamclovin··on Companies rarely die from moving too fast...
I happened to tweet this quote this morning and a friend of mine made a valid point:

"though there's a difference between spinning your wheels fast, and actually moving forward."

iamclovin··on 6 Steps I Took From Idea To Launch
I've wondered about that too. I wonder if an upvote from a user who has high karma has higher weight than an upvote from a person who has low karma?
iamclovin··on YC Office Hours with PG and Harj
Sure, but I'm pretty sure it's a great character-building exercise - either your idea is validated, or you're determined enough to prove YC wrong. Win-win imho.
iamclovin··on The Long Grind Before You Become an Overnight Success
The hardest question which I battle with is knowing when is the right time to fold and start afresh. PG's 'Relentlessly Resourceful' post ties in very well this - http://paulgraham.com/relres.html

Great story, very inspiring!

iamclovin··on Radbox.me: Instapaper for Video
Shameless plug, but Denso has an Android app in the works and it's very close to being live: http://getdenso.com/android-sneak-peek
iamclovin··on Radbox.me: Instapaper for Video
Thanks for your feedback. I work on the Denso app which nathos plugged (thanks nathos). We're aware of our "competitors" though I think this is not a zero-sum game.

Denso started off as a personal itch of mine, but we have a unique twist on how we get instapaper'ed videos onto your various devices.

We've also kinda expanded on our vision and believe that video-watching is a more passive experience than reading, and hence needs different requirements and we feel Denso fits that niche (although we'd like our users to decide that).

We're still in private beta but we're hoping to go "live" really soon.

iamclovin··on Why Do So Many Designs or Products Look The Same?
Playing devil's advocate, but as a startup founder who's strapped for time and money - isn't the pragmatic choice to be "inspired"[1] by designs which work?

When big companies have done all the hard work to prove that a certain design works (with millions poured into usability studies and what not), maybe it's ok to piggyback on their coat-tails?

[1] Obviously there's a difference between inspiration and plagiarism.

iamclovin··on False fears
I've been guilty of a few poor judgments and faux pas this week, this makes me feel much better, thanks!
iamclovin··on Marc Benioff interviews Eric Schmidt
Apologies if this seemed crass. We were actually experimenting with a "promotional" aspect of the site by seeing if people would request for an invite if given a relevant and good enough incentive.

Spoiler: The incentive in this case was a chance to watch the video later offline on any of your devices.

Apologies again if it was out of line.

iamclovin··on Marc Benioff interviews Eric Schmidt
Apologies for the shameless plug but if you don't have the time to watch the hour long interview right now, you can watch it later using our invite-only app: http://getdenso.com/videos/28821-marc-benioff-and-eric-schmi...

If you request for an invite, as a token of our thanks, you're in for a little surprise ;)

iamclovin··on Show HN: Denso - An Instapaper for Video
Hey yes we do (including the Big You! ;)

We think we have an interesting twist on the way you can get videos on to your iOS devices.

We're working really hard polishing up the experience for the user right now, so we'll be sending out invite codes really soon. Thanks everyone for signing up.

Thanks Sahil, was it at Echelon? I wasn't there during the conference (my teammates were) but glad you like it :)

iamclovin··on Fastest Way to Lose $50 - Our Failed Admob Experiment
Interesting. We did think of Reddit but maybe thought that an iPhone app which is a Facebook utility is probably not a Redditor's cup of tea.
iamclovin··on Rate our startup: getdenso.com (It's TiVo/Instapaper for web video)

iamclovin··on Rate our startup: getdenso.com (It's TiVo/Instapaper for web video)
You should try it out ;) but we think we have a killer iTunes integration feature which lets you watch your videos on your iOS devices.
iamclovin··on Rate our startup: getdenso.com (It's TiVo/Instapaper for web video)
Nope :) Denso means "transmission" in Japanese (which is sort of what we do), but yeah the car component company did come up during our research.
