apart from node.js being for writing javascript servers, would it not do exactly what you're looking for, essentially just a more useful version of the v8 engine with npm for adding useful packages to simplify coding. `$ node yourfile.js`
and using it in conjunction with coffeescript only increases the pleasure of working with it. I can only but dream of the day that coffeescript needn't be compiled into JavaScript first.
though not a great justification, and I'm hoping hackers far better than myself can defend nodejs (if only for my entertainment/interest). But using node is actually VERY fun, I cant quantify it but I find it a lot more enjoyable than any of the other server side languages I know.
i think we're on the same page. i can imagine that "GitHub for Mac" etc, might end up helping those designers that feel git is an unfathomable entity...
implying i said they wouldn't be valuable...
I am a designer and git is not coding, its merely about learning a tool that helps with collaboration, git/github being one of many. :)
the nice thing about fireworks is that the fileformat is a viewable PNG when opened by someone without fireworks, so process files are visible by everyone involved.
i reckon we'll get to a point where early in a repo's life there'll be a concepts/design folder with process files - would also make sense to plan the architecture in the same fashion...hmmm the possiblilities
so that the dev planning the models/views can collaborate with a front-end designer as to the architecture of a site, but all within github etc etc etc. i can but hope.
i agree, as a designer/front-end dev, that uses github, git versioning works on css (~ my tone doesnt translate to text) etc, so yeah there is a breakdown when asking designers to use git, but to be honest i manage fine, so i dont see why others cant do the same :)
i agree, I’m a designer and have been offering to fork open source projects here and there for a bit, but i think its a thing that the community has to adopt. its getting there though. developers also need to come to terms with the fact that just as a project needs great coding (by a dev) many projects need great design (by a designer)
the reviewer obviosuly doesnt know the market then as i would say not only is FreeAgent a competitor, but it wins hands down: http://www.freeagentcentral.com/
thats great, funnily enough loving working with node, is one of the things that pushed me over the edge and made me buy a mackbook pro, sick of having to deal with cygwin on windows. but this is good news, albeit too late for me.
one thing that bugged me, (i use firebug Alot) is that when i used the inspect tool to select an element on the page, it didn't navigate to that part in the DOM view in the bottom panel, and I couldn't edit html int he bottom panel i had to navigate away before editing html
so whats stopping them putting it on github, if the people working "near" the projects center stick it on github and let a community form/extend/grow around it, i know i'd watch that repo
I can imagine that using American-controlled immigration software, would be how American intelligence personnel secure access into foreign territories. A (IMHO) logical statement, though I haven't even dignified it with a Google search.
