iab··on Musk Sees Human Robot Becoming Bigger Than Tesla’s Car Business
If you think the complexity of self-driving is high, wait until you see that of mobile manipulation
iab··on Show HN: I made a simple flag guessing game
Nice game - although as Andrew says, the aspect ratios are wrong for a few flags. Also some suggestions (for incorrect matches) are repeated, which makes it easier to guess. And once you click, the red/green combo makes it trying to read the text on it (if you want to see what you got wrong). Thanks for making this!
iab··on Doing too much work on one's own before looping in others
Inadvertently insightful
iab··on Ask HN: How to get YouTube to stop offering me a free trial of YouTube Premium?
Umatrix + Adblock plus

> This is a multi-million dollar campaign focused squarely on taking away life-saving technology from people who depend on it

Who is relying on FSD as life-saving technology?

iab··on Name a product you hate (but you pay for/use it)
The iOS app is extremely painful to use. Periodic stutters, generally poor-performance. Also the UX in general is aggravating to me. I have been with them for quite some time now, but would readily jump ship to an alternative. What should I use?
iab··on Ask HN: Ghosted contact who I met a conference. Now need their help
Super-simple, IMO. “Hey (ghostee) - we met a while back at (conference), and I saw you posted a role that I would love to chat with you about”. They ghost you? Cant take offense at that. They respond? You all are off to the races. Don’t overthink this.
iab··on Brain expert says Neuralink is IMPOSSIBLE
> “The ordinary ‘horseless carriage’ is at present a luxury for the wealthy; and although its price will probably fall in the future, it will never, of course, come into as common use as the bicycle,” claimed the Literary Digest in 1899.

> “It would appear that we have reached the limits of what it is possible to achieve with computer technology,” he said. However he was smart enough to add a caveat saying; “although one should be careful with such statements, as they tend to sound pretty silly in five years.”

etc. etc.

iab··on Churchill's Prescience
pretty sure Churchill was a c++ guy
iab··on Ask HN: Any interest in restarting the “Who is looking for co-founder(s)” post?
I think that has mostly been subsumed by the Startup Co-founder matching program?
iab··on Name a product you hate (but you pay for/use it)
Spotify
iab··on Ask HN: Am I thick? What advice would you give me?
Reminds me of Toofer from 30 rock: “no not tufts …”

Satire has nothing on this article

iab··on The UX on this small child is terrible
Honestly this sounds like a systemd/timedatectl issue, try hard reset (ctrl/shift/fn/cheddar goldfish)

iab··on Listing My TikTok iOS App for Sale

> Sure, there were some genuine, peaceful protests. But many others were outright riots, often planned and executed by domestic terror organizations like Antifa (yes, they are literal domestic terrorists)

> Coordinated psychological operations (psyops) were taking place here in the US, run against the US populace.

> Is the vaccine helpful? I don’t know. Maybe.

I’m going to go ahead and save you all some time, this is exactly the conspiratorial garbage you would expect from Tucker Max and his “Special Forces buddies”

iab··on Why men are lonelier in America than elsewhere
Lonelier relative to men in other countries, it’s not a competition
iab··on Why so much Obama-era pop culture feels so cringe now
What utter sanctimonious dreck.
iab··on Tesla recalls almost half a million electric cars over safety issues
"The wheels falling off might have a small detrimental impact on the drivability of the vehicle"
iab··on Ask HN: What’s the most outrageous belief you’re confident is true?
I like this one, but on further inspection, why? A crash would certainly reveal the breach of the outer space treaty, so for risk minimization why not just launch and keep it in orbit? Fun to think about though.
iab··on Ask HN: What’s the most outrageous belief you’re confident is true?
It’s the old hard-men/easy times trope again
iab··on Ask HN: What’s the most outrageous belief you’re confident is true?
I think the “nuclear temperature” is getting hotter, although not at all-time highs
iab··on Ask HN: What’s the most outrageous belief you’re confident is true?
Religion specifically asks you suspend disbelief, so this is consistent

iab··on Ask HN: Is it too late to start CS masters with 27?
No.
iab··on How to get funded in this case?
What kind of burn are you looking at? My subjective take: spend some time ballparking the market for this, and collect a few 5k-10k angel checks through SAFEs; show current progress, and interest from industry players. Ditch the programming job & go at this full-time for a few months.
iab··on Ask HN: What are good resources for following the latest R&D in computer vision?
