For more than a year, Anthropic has engaged in an extensive guerrilla marketing effort on Reddit and similar developer-oriented platforms, aiming to persuade users that Claude significantly outperforms competitors in programming tasks, even though nearly all benchmarks indicate otherwise.
If you're using these models to generate code daily, the costs add up.
Sure, I'll give a really tough problem to o3 (and probably over ChatGPT, not the API), but on general code tasks, there really isn't meaningful enough difference to justify 4x the cost.
yeah, well it’s also one of the top scorers on the Math olympiads
Do you think the EU subsidizes Meta/Apple.
But the gist of it is that CF sales are really good at identifying users that are both locked into their offerings and big enough to be able to sign an expensive contract.
CF do have an excellent offering and workers, in particular, are amazing for many things.
Once the above conditions hit though, you will invariably get a call from the sales team. There is no free lunch.
Unless you stay very small, you'll eventually get on the radar of the sales team and you'll realize the service is neither unlimited nor free. In fact, you'll likely have to look at a 5 or 6-figure contract to remain on the service.
I run a one-man consulting business from the EU. I sometimes hire freelancers. I work with US clients anyway. Does that mean I can open a US llc and move?

Otherwise, why release a device like the Apple Vision Pro? It's also very far from the holy grail of AR/VR.
It's very heard to beat the state of the art. It's almost impossible to surpass it by some unbelievable margin. It seems very unlikely that fully autonomous driving was the goalpost for going to market.
Much more likely, the project failed for more mundane reasons -- they figured out their EV would be somewhere between a Tesla and a Mercedes on the luxury scale, but with better integration into the Apple ecosystem. When the market for EVs cooled down and many traditional car companies already launched EVs, it became clear that they're both too late and entering a highly competitive market with small margins.
Also bad. From the article:
> many employees on the car team — known as the Special Projects Group, or SPG — will be shifted to the artificial intelligence division
So, the people that failed to build a car, when Tesla, Xiaomi, BYD and half a dozen EV startups succeeded, will now fail to build generative AI.
At the same time, I have now done software engineering for over a decade, in many roles and teams, and I have never seen Agile or Scrum to lead to the development of a good piece of software. I guess we were using it wrong.
I'm sorry, but accessing non-publicly available data in a way that violates the T&C of a site (which you agreed to, in order to be granted the registration), is well-established to be illegal and, if you are prosecuted, you can face serious penalties.
People should not be encouraged to do things that can land them in jail.
