httgp··on Companies hiring remote software engineers anywhere in the world
Seeing a lot of gateway timeouts. Are you folks aware of this?
httgp··on Bun v0.5
This will be a killer feature. One of the big reasons Deno was appealing to me was `deno bundle`.

If bun can crack executable generation (along with code signing and notarization), it’ll unlock a whole new dimension for bun apps.

I'm a web and infrastructure engineer with expertise and proficiency in all things JavaScript/TypeScript, the web, Python and multiple infrastructure-as-code frameworks. I also contribute actively to open-source – see https://github.com/paambaati and https://github.com/orgs/getoslash

Some cool things I've worked on –

1. Built smart crawlers that evaded multiple bot mitigation mechanisms – https://paambaati.github.io/rendering-at-scale/

2. Worked on multiple AWS cost optimization efforts, saving thousands of dollars for past jobs.

3. Built SIM-swap backend infrastructure for one of the biggest telecom providers in Mexico.

4. Managed to get SOC-2 Type I and Type 2 compliance at $LASTJOB in record time.

My primary strengths include –

1. Deep expertise (of multiple years) in all things JavaScript/Typescript, Python, distributed systems and infrastructure/platform.

2. Excellent communication skills; written and verbal. 3. Kind and empathetic. 4. Very good at conflict resolution and de-escalation. 5. Very good at hiring good talent.

I speak and write English fluently – I also blog irregularly at https://httgp.com about things I care about.

I'm currently looking to find full-time senior positions in very hands-on engineering roles. I'm also willing to take managerial positions, as I've played that part for the last few years as well.

httgp··on Lessons learned since posting my salary history publicly
In India, this is almost always the norm. Most companies are willing to offer only 30% on top of what you’re currently making. Anything above that is considered “asking too much”.
httgp··on PostgreSQL 14 Internals Book
A ton of companies are building on top of PostgreSQL — Yugabyte, Supabase, EdgeDB and Neon.
httgp··on Show HN: Terragen.dev – Automagically Generate Terraform for AWS
Does this only generate HCL, or does it support CDKTF/TypeScript too?
httgp··on Show HN: Plasmo – a framework for building modern Chrome extensions
Why not?
httgp··on Neon – Serverless Postgres
Do you plan to solve for global data-at-the-edge availability? That to me is the killer feature for databases and one I’m direly in need of at work.
httgp··on Next.js Layouts RFC: Nested routes and layouts, designed for Server Components
> With this RFC, you can start using React features

I’m guessing this should say React 18 instead?

httgp··on Next.js Layouts RFC: Nested routes and layouts, designed for Server Components
This might probably happen a few years down the line. But I’m curious, is there a compelling use-case for this?
httgp··on Show HN: Multiplayer Demo Built with Elixir
This is amazing, and every day my excitement for Supabase grows. What would be the best way to build a multi-region cluster in Supabase?
httgp··on TrueCaller built a billion-dollar caller ID data empire in India
The issue here is that your contacts did not agree to you sharing their information with a third-party.
httgp··on 'Children of Men' is happening
This is a take that I hadn’t really thought about, so thank you for writing this.
httgp··on Deno 1.19
I can’t help but be excited for Deno. They are consistently building out great features every release.

I’ve recently begun building a lot of CLIs with Deno and it’s been a lot of fun. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they’d build support for codesigning apps, as I can’t yet distribute my CLIs for macOS.

Is Ably playing with WebTransport? If it moves up from its current trial status, how do you see that changing Ably’s core?
httgp··on Is It Time for the JavaScript Temporal API?
My favorite has always been Day.js [0] - it is really small, has a very clean API, great documentation and does pretty much everything I want.

httgp··on The Source of the Nile River: A Mystery That Spanned Three Millennia
Another fun fact about Brahmaputra - it’s the only river in India that doesn’t have a feminine name.
httgp··on Pg_GraphQL: A GraphQL Extension for PostgreSQL
Very excited about!

Do you have performance comparisons for the same datasets with Hasura / Graphile?

httgp··on PostgREST 9.0
This looks fascinating!
httgp··on Samsung UK admits you can’t disable ads on Samsung smart TV
My LG TV wouldn’t upgrade without me consenting to it.
httgp··on Tanaka Hisashige, builder of the Myriad Year Clock (2016)
There was a documentary that showed Masahiro-san making this exact watch. I’m having trouble finding it right now, but it’s fascinating.
