Yo that would be perfect. All the advantage of the cloud without the privacy concerns.

hrdwdmrbl··on Desktop Apps with Deno
Can someone on Windows or Linux comment on how this compares with nativefier?
hrdwdmrbl··on Autodesk criticised by 35 named architects (2020)
From person experience working inside Autodesk, they don’t care. They make so much money while being so dysfunctional that it will take strong competition for them to do anything.
hrdwdmrbl··on Dusting “Attack” via Tornado Cash to Public Wallets
I think the attacker is depositing 0.1 ETH each time but the recipients are receiving less
hrdwdmrbl··on Syncthing Anywhere with Tailscale
If there was a company providing Syncthing-as-a-service I would very much sign up. I want the power of Syncthing (or similar) without the hassle of running a server myself.
hrdwdmrbl··on Diet and its effects on the gut biome in the pathophysiology of mental disorders
What’s the tl;dr? What does it say we should eat?
hrdwdmrbl··on Sufficient Decentralization for Social Networks
This sounds superior to social networks providing 3rd party access to your graph
hrdwdmrbl··on Sufficient Decentralization for Social Networks
Yes. A blockchain is one form of a distributed database. A blockchain allows writes from multiple parties without permission. AFAIK, that's the key
hrdwdmrbl··on Postgres 15 improves UNIQUE and NULL
Cool but this was trivially solved previously by excluding NULL from the index using a partial index.

I'm more interested in problems that have no great solution, like taking the first element of a set of partitioned data. Right now you have to partition & rank, and then select the rank 1 elements in a subsequent query.

hrdwdmrbl··on Ask HN: Can you both take climate change seriously and against nuclear energy?

hrdwdmrbl··on EU approves legislation to regulate Apple, Google, Meta, and other tech firms
Does anyone know if Shopify will be considered a gatekeeper? What are the qualifications for being deemed a "gatekeeper"?

Good riddance to bad software

hrdwdmrbl··on Ask HN: Can you both take climate change seriously and against nuclear energy?
Same with the green party of Canada
hrdwdmrbl··on Show HN: I ranked news websites by speed
Very curious that NYT's is so slow given their fairly advanced tech team. They do a lot of neat stuff with that team. Though maybe it's another part of the company that manages the rest of the site. Or maybe it's all their neat stuff that makes it slow.
hrdwdmrbl··on Fresh is a new full stack web framework for Deno
This sounds very similar to Hotwire https://hotwired.dev/ Can someone who has used at least one of those chime in?
hrdwdmrbl··on Labrador's robotic shelf for people with mobility issues
I'd be very curious to see if people without mobility issues might find it useful. Maybe after a few iterations on the design.

Then I'm thinking, what if everything in my house was on wheels? Reminders me of those super modular homes that you sometimes see on YouTube where everything is a transformer (bed comes desk, table becomes chair, bookshelf becomes toilet , etc.) or folds away.

hrdwdmrbl··on Amazon is intimidating and harassing organizing workers in Montreal
I just put a note. It's good to know what you're clicking on when you might not have heard of the website before. It provides something called "context".
hrdwdmrbl··on Amazon is intimidating and harassing organizing workers in Montreal
Note: this website often contains highly unreliable material and often publishes articles defending such things as the Berlin Wall.
hrdwdmrbl··on Thank you to our maintainers
On the one hand, that's the salary of 2-5 engineers. Pure PR. On the other hand, it's more than $0.
hrdwdmrbl··on “Harbinger households” consistently buy products that get discontinued (2019)
Law of large numbers?
hrdwdmrbl··on My 40-liter backpack travel guide
I use grams instead of cm^3 but otherwise I agree. I just don't want to carry heavy things!

I will recommend 1 specific thing that is rarely mentioned which is soap slices, sometimes known as camping soap. They're super portable, light and small. They are perfect for situations while traveling where you just need a little hand wash. It happens more often than you'd think.

hrdwdmrbl··on Dear Spotify, can we just get a table of songs?
And please show the release YEAR of albums in the Appears On section. AND please stop recommending stupid house remixes of my favourite songs. I don't like house music one bit, I don't know the remix artist at all, so don't recommend their TRASH to me!

hrdwdmrbl··on Dropbox deletes Rick and Morty creators account for secret TOS violation
All TOS violations on all platforms are always secret. They will never tell you what you did. We are all one secret violation away from digital homelessness. Being booted from Dropbox is probably one of the least bad boots you can get.

hrdwdmrbl··on Ancient civilisation under eastern Turkey estimated to be 11k-13k years old
There's an old saying about online headlines: If the headline asks a question, the answer is always no. If the answer were yes, the headline would say so.
