why would you want to run python in the browser? Anyone can ELI5?
hpeter··on OpenBSD Workstation Hardening
"The OpenBSD malloc system allows you to enable some extra checks, like use after free, heap overflow or guard pages..."

How would the added protection compare to safety in rust?

Wouldn't it be useful to develop C on a memory hardened system, then deploy anywhere knowing there were checks during development? Would that help avoid the memory issues later in production?

hpeter··on A new F# compiler feature: graph-based type-checking
I concur. All the .NET devs seem to prefer C# and are afraid to go near F#. It seems to be out of their comfort zone.Once people learn to code one way, they often don't want to try new things, since C# works and pays the bills, they don't even try F#.

I lived there and the tax is much higher. Not worth it to live there for me imho, but if you have kids the education system is great.
hpeter··on Next.js, Just Why?
Try Deno Fresh https://fresh.deno.dev/

Deno supports importing node modules now so you can import whatever dependency you desire. I even used browser imports on the server, it's so flexible.

Island based hydration is a great idea and it's a super productive framework to use. Fresh uses Preact, I spent the last few months using it and I never caught myself fighting with the framework, unlike nextjs where it's a constant struggle

hpeter··on Erlang/OTP 26 Highlights
One day I will switch to Erlang/OTP ,I really want but it's not easy.

We need a larger ecosystem, because most of the times when people like me look for what language to use to solve a problem, we try to select the best / easiest tool for the job, and many times if the ecosystem has easy to use tool, we go with that.

Not all developers build distributed systems and even tho I'd love to, many times I don't have the capacity to build things I need from scratch so that leads me more towards java/js/python sadly.

You can launder money with it also /sarcasm

Helium is kind of a failure tho. Last I heard it has very little users.

I'm into ETH big time, but there are not many applications for it that are worth the fees.

Same. I used to be really into BTC around 2011-2014 but then all the ponzi "price goes up" people jumped on it.

I like the idea of P2P cash but I don't want the casino.I don't wanna invest, I just wanna use it as money. It didn't work out so well for that.

I came here to say the same. I don't like it.
