The problem with wsl is that its a window like a small island extending 1000m into the air, and the moment you step off... Splat, you're back in Windows with the registry and such. I bought a surface a few weeks back - wsl is nothing but an improved cygwin, of no use to Linux/Mac users, and windows has become repulsively spammy. I've installed arch.
I've never seen anyone's banning get cheered. On the contrary, I see the locked account person get cheers and welcomes back when they return, elevated as a hero, comradery strengthened, usually on a different account, abandoning the old, meaning a good percentage of twitter's accounts are stagnant.
Have you used windows recently? It sounds like you have. I installed it last week for the first time in ten-ish years - afraid I have to describe it as disgusting and completely undoing all the supposedly open work pr they've been getting. I'm on the phone so can't rant, but the install was endless info requests, some sneaky eg can we have your location, no, would you like us to find your device if stolen, erm. Open the browser, news thumbnails riddled with adverts. The timeline, extend beyond 30 days by giving us info. On and on. Sorry, they looked as though they had changed direction, but that surface laptop now runs Linux.
Every time there's a scandal and you don't delete your Facebook account, you're telling them that you're fine with that behaviour and that they're welcome to abuse you further. They'll keep pushing, whittling their users to a group who tolerates anything.
It's not acceptable. I've moved from a dev background to having a go at sre/devops/something-or-other; work aside, the culture is excrutiating, with people shouting across the office all day. Best case, someone talking to themself hour after hour, as if anyone wants to hear that. The idea that open floor plans are productive is farce. I effectively have two jobs, the first being just trying to get any work done.
Different experience here. I did one dive. Nice view from up there. Not very exciting. Falling out of the plane was good fun, felt a bit nuts. The fall was very pleasant. Opening the chute was fun. The canopy ride was boring and uncomfortable hanging in the harness. Saw the video of the guy who jumped before me, he was woohooing all the way.
Doubt it. I was downloading Linux distros among various other things in a developing country in the 90s. This might be useful for the most isolated areas.
South Africans also call papaya pawpaw. Wikipedia says the name is colour related:in Australia, these are called "red papaya" and "yellow papaw". In SA I only saw yellow.
I'm afraid this just isn't reality, voting down won't change that. SA is backward but it's not that backward. It has e-commerce, you can buy things online. It's had the web since the mid 90s. Eg first search attempt, incredible.co.za . It just isn't difficult. SA has poverty, as extreme as poverty can be, it's horrible, it's heartbreaking, but it's not all like that. This is a bugbear, ABC, BBC, crap media outlet of choice more interested in creating a story than accurate representation. I wouldn't trust them with my coffee.
