ffmpeg commander is great. A simple static site which you can host yourself. I can't recommend it enough.

Zstd is also great for io bottlenecked transfers with its adapt flag. I don't know if you can use it with rsync though.

This is false. In Germany there are Universitäten and Hochschulen. Hochschulen are more practical, at one of these you have programming assignments or projects in nearly every subject. Universitäten are more about the theory but they still have some programming assignments, maybe one subject every semester. At some Unis CS is just a part of the Mathematics department so that is also a factor which makes them even more theoretical.

How about adding another audio stream to your Video files with ffmpeg? You could even automate it with a script on a cronjob or make a Jellyfin Add-on. You would first have to detect if there is already a mono or stereo stream. Then invoke something like ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -c:v copy -c:a copy -c:a aac -rematrix_maxval 1.0 -ac 2 output.mp4 (haven't tested this and it would drop subtitles)
