hn_throawlles··on Apple’s Unionized Store Wants to Start Accepting Tips from Customers
the point is who pays for this 'service' work? Apple? the corporation designing the devices being potentially bought

or you? the potential customer paying with a tip to the store's employee??

hn_throawlles··on A New Theory for the Assembly of Life in the Universe
matter is the basis of all finally generates yields as the ultimate 'output': The as 'completed' scientific discipline called chemistry

the point being how they (chemistry as a cultural institution) owns so much technical know-how without which we cannot live like we do, and this knowledge is not innovating, nor nothing of the sort, it's in maintenance mode. this what I mean by "completed" discipline.

energy is the basis of all:

same as above but physics are the 'ultimate output'; as the completed discipline. I suppose this 'goal of 'completing physics' is not fully realized yet.

Except in some sub-disciplines like civil engineering (built on physics-science).

information is the basis of all:

still working on it. some mix of logic, philosophy, physics, and computer engineering/science must all output another 'completed scientific 'discipline. or completely re-draw physics as a cultural institution.

this article is all about this 'information'-awareness going over old biology

> a useful restatement of a lot of intuitive understanding

now with more 'information' as a substance guiding the intuition.

> Thankfully, posting banned ideas or government critical stuff in the US doesn't involve being arrested by the police and being held for months or years.

regretfully, being poor and in certain parts of the USA is sufficient to get sucked up by the system. no ideology necessary, just getting caught and loaning money for bail is enough to get swallowed by this beast.

i suppose the CCP pays for these systems directly? whereas the American way has a distributed system of crony 'entrepreneurs' (shoddy lawyers, loan sharks, court bureaucrats and so on) all keeping this system of private jails and other 'services' and industries built around people 'breaking the law'

let corporations exist without human participation... ahahahah interesting times
hn_throawlles··on Everything Is Interpolated: Music’s Nostalgia-Industrial Complex
the real art being applied is that of commerce and trade (of rights to sounds)

these people are on to something, but it's not music in the 'art through sound' sense.

nonetheless they do express out real novelties and make money while at it

hn_throawlles··on Shutting down my legal torrent site after 17 years
I'll keep saying this as long as I observe it:

there's a strong intention against free digital assets.

the logic of the market is imposing itself over the digital realm (the inside of the internet?)

this logic wants us to pay to copy. why should only some get to keep the enormous advantage unlocked by digital information while the rest are forced to pay?

to be fair this is also in reaction to https://torrentfreak.com/brazils-ministry-of-justice-asks-go...

hn_throawlles··on A Plea for Fairness for Non-Profit Developers of Open Source Software
at least they should be direct and upfront about what they want.

no more free digital assets. the logic of the market is imposing itself over the digital realm (the inside of the internet?)

this logic wants us to pay to copy. just imagine if you had to pay every time digital information gets copied!

I don't think anybody would be able to afford to run their own computers. how many times are bits getting copied all over the place during normal operation? all routers would have to be shut down to avoid litigation!

I know I am taking this to an extreme, but where does it end? does it ever stop? why should only some get to keep the enormous advantage unlocked by digital information while the rest are forced to pay?

to be fair this is also in reaction to https://torrentfreak.com/brazils-ministry-of-justice-asks-go...

hn_throawlles··on How can some infinities be bigger than others?
i thoguth there are two types of infinities:

by there being no bigger number (classic logic infinity?)

and by 'construction' which boils down to cycles in graphs. even two nodes bouncing can do so forever. so then "bigger infinities" would mean that there are more nodes in the cycle.

i suppose this gets more and more interesting when adding geometry (which involves a basic logic), and then having cycles within cycles.

hn_throawlles··on Thought Examinations, Indoctrination Meetings and Struggle Sessions
sometimes fiction provides the best way to pass on complex meanings
hn_throawlles··on Thought Examinations, Indoctrination Meetings and Struggle Sessions
I don't think this analogy is sufficient to answer that.

we may need to delve deep into types and causes of cancer

hn_throawlles··on Thought Examinations, Indoctrination Meetings and Struggle Sessions
the collective (i.e. the figurative global city understood as itself) fighting the individual persons which built the city and live in it.

it's like an allergic reaction,

it's as if I went to war against my cells for being 'legacy' and 'old culture'

hn_throawlles··on ATC staff shortages: 11,000 flights cut from NYC and DCA in summer 2023
that's a very roundabout of sayin that is because older people are much harder to trick into working with disregard to their own health. then again, younger people by virtue of their youth can overwork a lot more than older people (who will also notice they're being overworked)
