hiccup··on Fogbeam Labs: Why Capability Cases Are a Must When Defining Software Systems
I'm having a hard time cutting through the business buzzwords to understand what these capability cases are. Seems like a standard Waterfall design methodology used by big consulting companies.
hiccup··on Patio11 launches his lifecycle emails course
Update: patio11 is 3x bigger than Kevin Rose. dave1619 compares girth.
hiccup··on HTTP for Servers
This rant is from 2007.

hiccup··on Overpriced Developer Conferences
I really enjoyed indieconf last year. I'd agree that the coffee breaks and time between lectures is where the magic happens. The catered lunch was very valuable too.
hiccup··on Google AdSense: Banned for Life?
If you've been banned from Google AdSense and you're deadset on getting back in, create a new legal entity with its own Google account. This complies with Google's TOC. There are higher costs of course, but presumably you'd do it if the revenues would exceed the costs.
hiccup··on Going from $0 to $500k in 1 Year with no VC Money
I'm betting this is the calculation: hours of product development X hourly bill rate = $300k
hiccup··on 4 Months Of eBook Sales
Don't stop at the revenue from the book. There is also the value of credibility from a published technical book.

Having this book as a consultant could justify a high rate for Ruby Unix work. He could gather speaking fees for Ruby and Unix conferences. It could also lead to follow on books from standard publishers.

I would say this revenue could be the start to more.

hiccup··on Microsoft keeps it old-school with a pricey text adventure game
Pretty sure a Social Gaming plugin is part of TextMate 2 also.
hiccup··on A Man. A Van. A Surprising Business Plan.
Great business. Serves an identified need for people with a real pain point. I'm glad to see that they're erecting some barriers to competition with native Mandarin speakers and a service oriented atmosphere.

It'll probably last a few months at least, but make hay while the sun shines. Doing NPR probably wasn't a great idea since their customers don't find them via traditional advertising means, but are literally thrown on their doorstep by the Chinese consulate.
