heywhatupboys··on Lets-Plot: An open-source plotting library for statistical data
I would haver have + than | if we introduce "custom" operators.

Like maybe bitshifting strings into streams wasn't the right syntax, Bjarne

heywhatupboys··on Lets-Plot: An open-source plotting library for statistical data
what is the alternative? python doesn't have a pipe operator

do you want to do

plot(density(colorify(labelaxis(logscale .... )))))))

heywhatupboys··on Lets-Plot: An open-source plotting library for statistical data
> What? Matplotlib has the best, intuitive interface among the competition. Every other plotting library I have tried either leads to ridiculously verbose code or is too opinionated to be useful.

What??? Have you ever used ggplot?? I know we all have opinions, but yikes, just look at the tutorials!

if this is a jab at Ukraine, they were literally invaded, endured torture and forced relocations, abductions of their children, etc. And they deserve our financial support
heywhatupboys··on Large-scale analysis of code re-use in Atari 2600 games (2022)
you don't need scifi books for that. Read up on the Java-class mentality in the 90's with people writing generic classes, and "puzzle architects" combining classes from a marketplace.

> The long-standing issue was preview in file picker dialog, not file browser.

I think this is semantics.

Fact it, it took a decade+

heywhatupboys··on Thunderbird 115
I'm not sure, does Gnome have image preview in its file browser yet?

"I'm a little teapot" is a British nursery rhyme... are you being deliberately daft? Of course I am not referring to the origins of the plant

heywhatupboys··on The Development of the C Language (1993)
That has nothing to do with the C memory model, but how the CPU is structured. No modern CPU has an interface for bit-address accessing as far as I am aware...

C makes no assumptions about the size of a byte

heywhatupboys··on Packing a string of digits into an integer quickly
yea and you could print the number, mail it to your friend, ask him to call you back and type in the number on his phone. Then have a recording tool listen in on his key presses, and write them to a file.

The time scale between OP's code and yours is about the same as the timescale between yours and mine :)

heywhatupboys··on The Development of the C Language (1993)
> C does not allow you to access bits in memory directly.

of course it does what are you talking about?

heywhatupboys··on The HTTP status code for a web server's default “hello” front page
No, just like engineers, doctors, etc. take their work seriously so should programmers.

There are places for jokes. This is not one of them.

heywhatupboys··on How the Tour de France became a $100M business
> They could complete the course, no question.

asking riders to ride for 12 hours a day is inhuman.

I could complete the course. The question is in what time.

heywhatupboys··on How the Tour de France became a $100M business

absolutely not. Not a single woman in the world can keep pace with the peloton.

heywhatupboys··on Tell HN: Nearly all of Evernote’s remaining staff has been laid off
So much shit here against GDPR which is basically:

1. if you want your data removed, companies HAVE to remove your data

2. if you don't want your data stored, companies CANNOT store your data

and then a bunch of if-when-then-else-must-cannot-time-dependent-legal-stuff

lmao, some stupid list. Scandinavia has world renowned cuisine, with some of the best (THE best) restaurants in the world, new inventions, and a food culture quickly spreading throughout the world.

Then some live laugh love travel girls and guy come to "list cuisines".

What a stupid list. I could as well just have pull something out of my arse by vacation photos posted here by HN contributors. If you think that list is in anyway meaningful or sophisticated I have a whole highway to sell you
