henlo··on Tell HN: The Turing.com hiring platform is complete nonsense
Not sure, but in my case, I'm guessing they got my email from HN whoishiring threads.
henlo··on Tell HN: The Turing.com hiring platform is complete nonsense
Also, they spam people's inboxes. I'm a designer, can't code beyond HTML/CSS, and they (their bots?) keep sending me an email to join their platform. It's annoying, and I don't think I can do anything about it except reporting their email as a junk and blocking them.
henlo··on Ask HN: Are tech layoffs happening abroad?
In Indonesia, I’ve heard that several big startups/companies are laying off their employees almost every month. Some have suddenly announced that they're closing their business too.

henlo··on My stack is HTML+CSS
> Vanilla `<img>` will ship the same image to every device, regardless of viewport size.

You can have responsive images with vanilla <img>[0]. You can even lazy load images with just `loading="lazy"` attribute[1]. I'm pretty sure I can optimize more things.

I'm mostly agree with this blog post. Plain HTML+CSS is really good for simple webpages, like landing page or portfolio that requires less update. But for a blog with pagination? I don't think so. Imagine updating each page in plain HTML. SSG can help my life easier.

henlo··on My stack is HTML+CSS
Plain HTML+CSS is really good nowadays. You can for example lazy load images with `loading="lazy"` attribute. You don't need JS anymore just to lazy load images. You can use plain CSS for simple interaction like opening and closing menu, toggling pricing plan, etc.

If you're curious with what you can build with plain HTML+CSS, check out my side project[0]. It's a collection of free landing page templates in plain HTML+CSS (no JS). No frameworks, no preprocessors.

henlo··on Ask HN: What side projects are you building in 2021?
Uisual (https://uisual.com), a collection of free plain HTML/CSS (no JS) landing page templates for startups. I've been working on it since December 2020. So far the feedback is great. Uisual was featured on Speckyboy, Web Designer News, and more.

My goal with this project is to get a job. Whether it's freelance, part-time, full-time, or contract. That's why they're free. I need others to help me to spread the word faster.

henlo··on Happy New Year HN
Happy new year!

I learned so much from reading this site. I got my first job interview from whoishiring thread, even though I didn't get the job. I got my first freelance project from here as well.

Thank you, HN!

henlo··on Show HN: HackerDaily – What if HN updates only once a day?
It's hard to read. Maybe because the dark background is too light? Or maybe the typeface? I can't read each list with focus, because the next or previous list is grabbing my attention too. Let's say I read list number 2 title, my eyes simply jump up and down reading number 1 and 3. Have you consider to darken the background?

Anyway, nice design!

henlo··on Show HN: Free HTML/CSS Landing Page Templates Without JavaScript
They're just placeholders. You can change the logo with yours. The reason I used inline SVG because our minimal and small logo, I don't think it's a good idea to request that <1KB SVG using `<img>`. You can change them to `<img>` if you prefer that way.
henlo··on Show HN: Free HTML/CSS Landing Page Templates Without JavaScript
They're responsive. I designed these templates from 320px, 768px, 1024px, and 1200px. What you're looking at was screenshots, not live demos. I'll update with live demos sometime next week. For now, just screenshots.

More templates to come!

henlo··on Show HN: Free HTML/CSS Landing Page Templates Without JavaScript
Glad you like it! If you want a unique design for your landing page, I suggest a custom design. You'll get Figma and HTML/CSS/JS files. Email me at: studio@uisual.com. Thanks, Russell!
henlo··on Show HN: Free HTML/CSS Landing Page Templates Without JavaScript
My idea is designing templates that's looking good even in black and white. I expected that some people don't want, or don't have the time to customize it. In that case, you can just change the brand color (#353535 in this case) to yours, blue for example, and you're ready. I use CSS variables for these templates, so changing colors will be easy.
henlo··on Show HN: Free HTML/CSS Landing Page Templates Without JavaScript
Every templates are just black and white. Think of it as a wireframe. You customize it yourself. Add background colors, box shadows, gradients, etc. Play around, make it yours.
henlo··on Show HN: Free HTML/CSS Landing Page Templates Without JavaScript
As I mentioned, there's more to come. For example, pricing section will have that toggle monthly and yearly plan without JS. Then there's also hamburger menu you can toggle without JS as well.

For now, I just wanted to share this project quickly and get feedback. Come check it out next week, you'll love it. Thanks for your feedback.

Uisual (https://uisual.com) is free and plain HTML/CSS landing page templates for startups. No JS. You can use them to launch your app, ebook, extension, etc. I'm planning to add more designs, a design a week. There will be pricing section, testimonial section, etc. But for now, only 3 templates.

Let me know what you think.

It's not app's cache I believe, but rather app's data. I think they're different? It's indeed 39MB on Play Store, but after I installed it and used it for a month, it's using 1GB+ storage on my phone (after I deleted app's cache).
