hehehheh··on Ask HN: What are some of the best take-home coding tasks you've gotten?
Sounds like spec work
hehehheh··on Ask HN: Best practices using AI as an experienced web dev
A new repo "find me the code that..." is an excellent use case
hehehheh··on DOJ will push Google to sell off Chrome
An internet tax could pay for it.
hehehheh··on Ask HN: Is there any license that is designed to exclude LLMs?
A class action may be one way.
hehehheh··on Ask HN: How does one negotiate for a remote job?
Atlassian is remote first but not digital nomad friendly. If the life reason is travel you can do it but only X days a year.
hehehheh··on Ask HN: Why hasn't the JavaScript event loop model scaled horizontally?
Its a good question. There are worker threads in Node but they seem clunky to use:

Stateless webservers are easier, since this is merely loaf balancing. Just run more processes:

hehehheh··on Extending the context length to 1M tokens
Computers can do stuff humans struggled with since the abacus. A 386 PC can do mathematical calaculatuons a human couldn't do in a lifetime.
hehehheh··on Ask HN: Is there any license that is designed to exclude LLMs?
Best license then would be an LLM poisoning attack.
hehehheh··on How Hard Should Your Employer Work to Retain You?
Yes by design. They want people to be replacible cogs. Not a value judgement just the way it has been since people learned to farm the land.
hehehheh··on How Hard Should Your Employer Work to Retain You?
> Recently we learned that Google spent $2.7 billion to re-hire a single AI researcher who had left to start his own company.

False. They acquired a company.

hehehheh··on Did my coding lead to colleague's death?
Not your fault. Unless you bullied him... but based on this post I doubt that.
hehehheh··on How Japanese black companies oppress workers (2014)
Drake meme:

No way ..... $200,000 more a year comp.

Hell yeah ..... gym membership

hehehheh··on How Japanese black companies oppress workers (2014)
Many countries let the worker be at will effectively, the employer can only fire them for cause or redundancy or a proper PIP. However the worker can't sue for much if they are unfairly dismissed, so no company is too on tbe hook. Which is good because it would reduce jobs. Add universal healthcare and social security and it's an OK system. Althouth the SS may not actually be enough to live off.

hehehheh··on Show HN: I built a(nother) house optimized for LAN parties
Flipside: they created more housing, in a place where people want it. He even said prices in Austin are falling because of development.
hehehheh··on Show HN: I built a(nother) house optimized for LAN parties
Thanks for the backstory to your career success! While I see the money as awesome, just working for CF at such a level must be great. I hope to get a job with them one day!
hehehheh··on Ask HN: Which blog platform is suitable for personal blogging?
Wordpress, Ghost, Substack .... anything that doesn't require asking a yak how they like their sideburns.
hehehheh··on Effect of a giant meteorite impact on Paleoarchean environment and life
When is the next one coming? Or what is the probability distributuon like?
hehehheh··on Ask HN: Have you gotten anywhere cold messaging investors?
Good question. If I needed an investor I would go to meetups and talk to them coyly e.g. "yeah doing a startup, got some customers.... so how do you advise I reduce churn for this parricular segment" "can I pay for some time for advice" and such like. Tease em.
hehehheh··on Ask HN: What open source projects need help?
Just takes one purse string puller to see something and maybe their company will put money into helping. There is an incentive for companies to contribute. They dont want their tools to die, they want to do the right thing (and can because of culture or BDFL) or promotional reasons either for their service or for recruitment. In addition yes a bored retired xoogler might need a hobby.
hehehheh··on Ask HN: What open source projects need help?
Does not appear to be open source.
hehehheh··on Two galaxies aligned in a way where their gravity acts as a compound lens
True but I'd be more convinced by an argument based on tech and engineering constraints than extrapolating a progress line.
