Agreed. The UI design isn't even worth mentioning if they really make it seamless to go from device to device. I'd love to leave my phone in another room and just use my tablet/computer while at home.
headwayoldest··on Hachette Puts out Response to Amazon Statement
Enough people are getting upset about this that I expect both sides to make apologetic noises and shuffle towards a resolution at an increased pace. As far as finding out what really went down, or what the resolution ends up being I am doubtful at best.
headwayoldest··on In about 2 hours it’s 1400000000 unix time
Roughly every three years, the "exciting" change will be in 2033 when it rolls over into 2000000000.

>You cannot have efficient free markets without rules

Wouldn't that be the most efficient free market? One in which only the most brutal and powerful ideas and companies prevail (with money)?

headwayoldest··on Vote on NASA's Z-2 Suit Design

What I keep wondering is how long these various exotic forms of ice survive outside the conditions in which they were created. If XV quickly changes back into regular ice this is a cool but seemingly impractical topic of research.
headwayoldest··on Quick tip for developers who use OS X
Everyone hates on Terminal, but I've made the changes you mentioned and I tend to prefer it to iTerm. I can't really quantify it. I definitely think TotalTerminal is superior to the equivalent feature in iTerm, and due to the nature of my work I tend to pop in and out of the visor frequently.

Not sure if I'm falling for sarcasm, or just an outlier for feeling the exact opposite...
headwayoldest··on The Onion quits print
The whole article reeks of the same satire The Onion puts up every day, I thought the same thing.
headwayoldest··on Terminology – a new terminal emulator
I think that's a big differentiator in people's CLI preferences. When I see prompts that don't include $HOSTNAME, and people eschewing tabs for multiplexing in all cases I just assume they rarely manage remote machines.
headwayoldest··on Conflicting Assertions Over an Electric Car Test Drive
In the end I expect both parties to be at fault, no one to apologize, and all of us to be unclear as to what exactly happened.
headwayoldest··on VMware launches Fusion 5
This is actually deceptive on their part. That upgrade is for the Pro version of 5. It's unclear if it will be possible to just get the regular one at an upgrade price.
