Actualy namespacing syncthing per user might be enough for every user at same system to run syncthing at tcp/8080 or whatever.
Why should we trust such chips more than purely software based approach?
Only issue i've found is the fact there is no official Debian repository and i always do forget to recompile it after upgrading Debian :-D
I really like the configuration system integrated in ZFS set/get...
Let's say my car burns equivalent of 100kWh worth of LPG, how many kWh of propane i can recover from the exhaust gas and how many kWh of electricity i need to provide for that?
Also if i understood correctly, this capacitor would need to be kept wet (with water) to remain operational right? Wet basement is extremely annoying thing with many unpleasant consequences to say the least. So this might require some efforts to maintain the moisture while keeping it contained.
How do you replace this thing? Eg. once cracks inevitably form in concrete, or when the carbon structure get damaged by accidental overvoltage/overcurrent, or when the insulation layers deteriorate. You cannot simply replace foundation of a building. Therefore it would make sense to keep the capacitor at least partialy separated from the structural parts of the building.
Anyway this seems as an interresting idea and i wonder if plastic bucket full of concrete would be enough to power something like UPS to provide 100W to keep PC running for 15 minutes. Might as well stop replacing lead acid batteries every other year if this is at least remotely viable.
maybe even
echo sub > /proc/sysrq-trigger
Basicaly i just state what size i want that subtree to be and it happens without having to touch underlying block devices. Also i can change it anytime during runtime extremely easily. Eg.:
zfs set quota=42G tank/vps/my_vps
zfs set quota=32G tank/vps/my_vps
zfs set quota=23G tank/vps/my_other_vps
btrfs can kinda do this as well, but the commands are not as straighforward as in zfs.
update: My bad. bcachefs seems to have subvolumes now. there is also some quota support, but so far the documentation is bit lacking, so not yet sure how to use that and if that can be configured per dataset.
also viruses (eg. HIV, Coronavirii,...) are often killed by oxygen in air, dry out or die in other ways when not floating in bodily fluids.
