Working flawlessly with ssh, out of the box. It is FAR simpler to manage than AWS in my opinion.
There is "no catch".
And free 10TB of traffic...
Plot twist: can't run any virtualization software on my development laptop and we are cut off from "the internet"(so no ssh or remote cloud).
Advice?
It is well known bias(supported by numerous studies) that 90% people with your "attitude" are certain that THEIR job is somehow special and immune to automatization.
In my country and in Sweden it is quite easy to get good and stable job in banking/insurance/consulting business with Cobol on Z/OS.
Salary is around 10-30k PER MONTH. Around 3x more then in let's say Java.
I recently bought some 386SX 25Mhz laptop to develop some software as well, and I worked on low-end hardware for over decade as well(for fun!)
My findings: You could run NetBSD 1.3.1 on just 2MB of RAM.
You can play mp3 on 486DX 66Mhz with mpg123 and madplay if you change the output to 22khz and few other flags.
Pentium 100 was enough back in the 2001 to run Slackware 7, BeOS and NetBSD 1.6.1 with mp3(in lower quality), Opera web browser, few consoles, text editor - at same time without hassle, AND burning cd-rom at the same time.
Then GOOGLE "invited" Ajax in 2004 and now even computer with 2gb of ram and 1.6Ghz dual cpu, can't open simple page with JS without serious stutter...
You are very wrong sir. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2-millimeter_band
>A helicopter with the right equipment flying over urban areas would have an easy job finding them.
That is not true. Helicopter would need to fly RIGHT into such directional and tiny beam. Which is nearly impossible to do in huge city. Even when flying 2m next to it, you would likely not detect it.
That is the reason why CIA had so much problem with pinpointing Iridium satellite phones back in Colombia in the 90's.
That's actually how spies send data back over the satellites:
>Unlike with SW signals, a radio signal to a satellite is very difficult to intercept and trace, as the waves are 'beamed' straight up rather than all around.
2. It is possible to build verious kinds of covert antennas. Radio amateurs do that all the time. Just google the term "stealth ham radio"
Did you develop those games ON the DOS machine as well or just cross compile? I would love to see your games.
Does that gcc-ia16 works on 386SX (non 64bit CPU)?
"""These FreeDOS packages do not contain support for C++ or link-time optimization (LTO)."""
So there is working C++14 compiler able to run under DOS or not?
Still, I would like to not only cross-compile for DOS, but to develop/compile on the DOS machine itself. I think that it might be actually possible to port Nim or V-lang compilers into DOS platform.
It would be perfect distraction-free development platform...
I just got some ancient laptop (386SX, 1.5MB RAM) running windows 3.11, and I was trying to find some modern programming launguage to hack on it. This seems perfect (as there are no modern C++11 compiler avalible for DOS[newest djgpp doesn't work properly at least in DOSBOX], no Python 3, no Java etc.
ps. Why there is 4MB requriment? Will it work with enough swap space?
