Sorry, meant 35. I had to lookup which model looked like mine and got confused

I have been fixing my Bose QC 45 for many years too
handwarmers··on The Air Force has loosened its restrictions on body fat for new recruits
Yeah sorry for that - I was using the terms quite colloquially
handwarmers··on The Air Force has loosened its restrictions on body fat for new recruits
It’s funny to see how defensive people are about their body fat %/bmi etc. It is objectively bad for you beyond a certain point and if that “personally offends” you it is more of a you problem than a problem with the person pointing it out.

Yeah it is complicated etc but so are the reasons people smoke or drink but most people don’t give them a hug and a free pass.

Take care of your health, and if taking care if your health is complicated, make it your main project in life.

Yes, they are a lot better than most. Like a lot a lot. They do have some ole boys and gals around, but they also have a lot of extremely hard working extremely talented young people.

This does not mean that there are not hardworking talented people elsewhere. They will make it too. But the density of talent at a place like MIT, compared to most other places on Earth in general, is unprecedented, and if that rubs you the wrong way, so be it.

handwarmers··on Parquet: An efficient, binary file format for table data
not exactly a one liner, but you can do something like parquet-tools cat <your file.parquet> | grep etc
handwarmers··on Open source espresso machine is one delicious rabbit hole inside another
Awesome stuff but be careful when working with boilers/pressurized containers - these things can result in no joke burns / explosions. Also, if you have mostly done low voltage electronics hacking, you might be missing some safety habits required in working with 120V/220V devices. Don't let this stop you, but don't rush the process :)
handwarmers··on Effing-mad, an effect library for Rust
This project has the least cringey Rust vibes vibes I have seen so far. I love it.
handwarmers··on Zig and Rust
Yes to the appreciating simplicity bit, but if you go to Rust expecting to not sweat over having to control tiny details you are in for a ride.
handwarmers··on Sam Altman 'A Little Bit Scared' of ChatGPT, Will Eliminate 'Many' Jobs
There is an art to knowing when your cynicism is justified, and when you should take a pause... Yeah a lot of people claimed their SPA would change the world, but this one is pretty interesting, so no need to go all "get off my lawn" on it

With just a few minutes of experimentation, it becomes really trivial to see how ChatGPT can accelerate some types of jobs sufficiently to justify reduction of staff.

It will likely create other jobs too, which is also mentioned in the article.

handwarmers··on Ken Thompson's 75 year project: A century of popular music in a jukebox [video]
this is a good point, despite its being downvoted. ty - you saved me a future debug session
