hahn-kev··on Google Workspace CLI
Because npm is not an os package manager, it's a nodejs package manager
hahn-kev··on Moldova broke our data pipeline
Yeah I don't understand how the article started with, we want this ["value"] but got this [value] but doing that wasn't the solution?
hahn-kev··on Fire the CEO, Introducing the AxO's
I think credit unions are often owned by the customers or members. Not the employees.
hahn-kev··on You are going to get priced out of the best AI coding tools (2025)
Either AI gets more expensive, or the 10k outsourcing gets cheaper.
hahn-kev··on Addressing Antigravity Bans and Reinstating Access
Except you can't prevent people stealing the videos then. And as much as I don't like how things work right now, I think people have a right to get paid for stuff they make and Netflix is one way of doing that.
hahn-kev··on Open Letter to Google on Mandatory Developer Registration for App Distribution
I like the idea of requiring extra work to get notification access. But really what all these scams pray on are time sensitivity, take that away and you solve the problem in many ways. For example, your bank shouldn't let you drain your account without either being in person or having a mandatory 24hr waiting period. Same could be done with side loaded apps getting notifications, if it's side loaded and wants to read notifications, then it needs to wait 24 hrs. Mostly it won't ever matter.

Alternatively reading notifications could be opt in per app, so the reading app needs to have permission to read your SMS message app notifications, or your bank notifications, that would not be as full proof as that requires some tech literacy to understand.

hahn-kev··on Goodbye InnerHTML, Hello SetHTML: Stronger XSS Protection in Firefox 148
But you can use InnerHTML to set HTML and that's not safe.
hahn-kev··on “Car Wash” test with 53 models
I would love to see LLMs start to ask clarifying questions. That feels like it would be a step up similar to reasoning
hahn-kev··on FreeBSD doesn't have Wi-Fi driver for my old MacBook, so AI built one for me
What I want is to be able to use AI to modify the software we already have. Granted I've wanted to do that long before AI, but now maybe plugins will get more popular again now that AI could write them for us
hahn-kev··on FreeBSD doesn't have Wi-Fi driver for my old MacBook, so AI built one for me
So are people
hahn-kev··on The dance floor is disappearing in a sea of phones
I don't think they were scrolling. They were recording, which I think is a very very different thing from doom scrolling addiction.

But man that sucks, there should be a phone free zone in the concert.

hahn-kev··on Xweather Live – Interactive global vector weather map
It looks really cool, but all the numbers jiggle around when I pan the map on my phone (Android, Chrome)
hahn-kev··on What Is OAuth?
No you're thinking of SAML.
hahn-kev··on uBlock filter list to hide all YouTube Shorts
Works fine for me, FF Win11
hahn-kev··on Europe's $24T Breakup with Visa and Mastercard Has Begun
It's true that it's a problem, but it can be easily fixed in the future. For example they could just change the app to work on any old android fork. You still get the benefit of no longer having transaction data run through the US.
hahn-kev··on Discord will require a face scan or ID for full access next month
Yeah I agree. I actually see most of the stuff in the teens mode as a feature
hahn-kev··on fman is now open source
Great file manager, I don't usually need anything outside the built in, but this is a great app. Looking forward to checking out the source.
hahn-kev··on TikTok's 'addictive design' found to be illegal in Europe
The headline I see on HN is "TikTok's 'Addictive Design' Found to Be llegal in Europe"
hahn-kev··on TikTok's 'addictive design' found to be illegal in Europe
Yeah, I think that's the new thing these days. Companies have always been trying to make things addictive, but now they can target each and every individual. I wonder if we had strong privacy laws, if it were illegal for TikTok to have this private information about you.
hahn-kev··on Ingress Nginx: Statement from Kubernetes Steering and Security Committees
The real question for me is "do I use this one? Or the other one?" Because for some reason there's 2 with basically the same name just reversed.
hahn-kev··on Android’s desktop interface leaks
I had that it was a cool concept but it kinda sucked. It would have been great for doing stuff over SSH but not much else as the hardware was lacking at the time
hahn-kev··on The state of Linux music players in 2026
Man QML is awesome, it's all native UI, and since it's not a browser it has a much simper runtime available for the js that you write.
hahn-kev··on A Lament for Aperture
Someone should vibe code a new version of Aperture
hahn-kev··on How I estimate work
For me the worst part is that I (and they) don't fully know what the person asking me from the estimate wants me to build, and usually the fastest way is to just build the thing.
hahn-kev··on Your app subscription is now my weekend project
I think that's where technical issues come in. For a web based SaaS app it's not worth the devs time to make multiple versions available. Even for local apps, I would say most of them have some functionality tied to an API and now you're back to running multiple versions of that server.
hahn-kev··on Show HN: Agent-of-empires: OpenCode and Claude Code session manager

hahn-kev··on I'm making a game engine based on dynamic signed distance fields (SDFs) [video]
Yeah that's what I felt watch that video.
hahn-kev··on Bose has released API docs and opened the API for its EoL SoundTouch speakers
The reason I've heard for games which I assume is similar here, is that there's licensed code used which the developer can not release because they don't own it (someone else does)
hahn-kev··on Show HN: Prism.Tools – Free and privacy-focused developer utilities
A lot of people mentioned not being able to find this when you want it later. I wonder if a list of tags in a Firefox bookmark would make it show up when typing in search to use instead of just googling for it
hahn-kev··on Total monthly number of StackOverflow questions over time
Yeah I agree, it did fail, but it's not worse because the people running it were trying to ring money out of it's users. Maybe they did take their eye off the ball trying to make it something else though
