hackernud3s··on Saving Jet Fuel
As long as win there doesn't get used as an excuse to procrastinate on reducing co2. If you asked me I would favor a ban on all non-emergency flying which solves both problems.
hackernud3s··on Saving Jet Fuel
It's one way to look at it I guess. CO2 is still the half of the damage that's way harder to fix.
hackernud3s··on Saving Jet Fuel
If we're measuring in terms of difficulty, CO2 is a much bigger problem than contrails.
hackernud3s··on CIA Releases President's Daily Briefs in Commemoration of 9/11
Even with leverage he's still a pervert and the whole world knows about it. That's a pretty solid reason to kill yourself.
hackernud3s··on Saving Jet Fuel
The fuel consumption feels like the bigger problem since contrails last for hours vs co2 that lasts damn near forever.
hackernud3s··on I can't stop thinking about Papua New Guinea
Losing weight is probably worth the tradeoff for most Americans.
hackernud3s··on I can't stop thinking about Papua New Guinea
Malnutrition after 3 weeks? I mean, pack 21 multivitamins.
hackernud3s··on OpenAI bots knew about the RubyGems caching vulnerability
Sure but nobody died, which makes it a bad analogy. If anything, some good came from it, since now RubyGems has hardened their setup.
hackernud3s··on OpenAI bots knew about the RubyGems caching vulnerability
There was no malicious intent though, your analogy implies there was. And no real harm done apart from billable hours from the RubyGems guys.
hackernud3s··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (September 2026)
I'm curious what signals they're trading on. SEC filings? Candlestick voodoo numerology?
hackernud3s··on Eating Fruit Skins
The culinary effect of not serving dirty food.
hackernud3s··on IKEA made a mod for Skyrim [video]
This is false, however this is not seem like a case where trademark is being infringed. If someone else opens a store called Ikea they obviously have to shut it down.
hackernud3s··on OpenAI's Sam Altman says it would be 'ill-advised' to go public in 2026
First they have to get the agents to stop trying to take over the world. That's got to be the first step, I feel like.
hackernud3s··on Eating Fruit Skins
You need to rinse rice though, a lot of people don't realize that.
hackernud3s··on OpenAI agents carried out an undisclosed attack on RubyGems
This article is RubyGems pointing fingers at OpenAI, not OpenAI taking responsibility for anything. We don't know what really happened from what I can tell.
hackernud3s··on The EPA is planning to scrap public review rules for data center pollution
Parts of it can be a bubble while other parts are not. The need for datacenters can be real while the valuation of model providers can be a fantasy.
hackernud3s··on CIA Releases President's Daily Briefs in Commemoration of 9/11
I never found any of those things surprising. Of course rich men are getting away with those things. Of course he killed himself when he finally got caught.
hackernud3s··on Shopify is moving from React Native back to Swift and Kotlin
We'll have to wait and see if the extra maintenance / bugs / attack surface is justified. This an announcement of future direction so vindicated is certainly premature.
hackernud3s··on Show HN: Vertumnus – printable posters of farmers' market produce seasonality
I hope he at least was driving an EV. Sigh.
hackernud3s··on Show HN: Vertumnus – printable posters of farmers' market produce seasonality
Are people really driving hours to get to farmers markets? The carbon footprint of that feels like irony.
hackernud3s··on Shopify is moving from React Native back to Swift and Kotlin
I don't see why you would, unless your argument for your whole career has been that LLMs make this easy.
hackernud3s··on Rock band Muse lose social media handles to Meta’s new AI tool
If you're a band, your life's work is the music. The platform is just a communication channel.
hackernud3s··on Shopify acquires Tailwind
You're talking about Polaris? I really don't see how they're compatible or how Tailwind is useful to those liquid templates. The only thing that makes sense to me is headless Shopify, maybe that's the direction Shopify is headed in? But they've been struggling to get any traction there it seems to me.
hackernud3s··on Watch Los Angeles get built, one building at a time (1880–2026)
There's still Houston but that's it as far as I know.
hackernud3s··on The revolt of the reader
Just like "violence" can now mean speech you don't agree with, "genocide" means military action you don't agree with, and nobody seems to know what "woman" means anymore, Maybe the solution is to stop using words.
hackernud3s··on Record-High 89% in U.S. Say Government Corruption Widespread
It's someone that gets blamed despite not being responsible, Do you agree?
hackernud3s··on Record-High 89% in U.S. Say Government Corruption Widespread
Eisenhower did not gas Jews. Please fuck off with your weak ass what about Eisenhower bullshit.

I know you think you're being cute but some of us had grandparents that had to flee that shit and do not find quite so hilarious as you and your mates.

hackernud3s··on Record-High 89% in U.S. Say Government Corruption Widespread
I was thinking more that Nazi's rounded up and gassed a million Jews. So I'm not in a forgiving mood if you're making joking comparisons or trying to be cute.
hackernud3s··on Ex-Crips leader found guilty in 1996 murder of rapper Tupac Shakur
Right but if it was Taylor Swift instead of Tupac Shakur... You get what I'm saying, right?
hackernud3s··on Record-High 89% in U.S. Say Government Corruption Widespread
Citizens United is widely considered the event that would cause US corruption to spiral out of control, but there was always the hope that a constitutional amendment could get us out of this.

Neither side ever even attempted it. Every once in a while you get some lip service about small money donations but nobody ever tried to go after the problem at the root in all this time. Think about what that means.
