hackerm0nkey··on Work in Lithuania
The big question is that how much pay cut are you willing to take? Surely this will not match what people are getting on other richer countries in the EU.
hackerm0nkey··on Ask HN: How do you keep track of the interesting things you find on HN?
More like blog posts, articles, links, etc.. I've tried few things in the past from plain browser bookmarking to buku or even just a plain text markdowns. But nothing seems to be a perfect fit to the problem.

Interested to see what other people do and use.

hackerm0nkey··on Frequently Used Linux Commands – A Real World Statistics from 10M Commands
I've remapped my fingers to just use CMD-K on Mac. Before that I just alias clear to cls, clear was always too long to my taste. So yeah, I am equally surprised :)
hackerm0nkey··on Frequently Used Linux Commands – A Real World Statistics from 10M Commands
in the 2019 status, why is "ls" repeated twice, once for line 1 and another for line 26 ?

Assuming it's the same binary. Shouldn't this be a unique list?

hackerm0nkey··on What you need may be “pipeline +Unix commands” only
Yup. Totally agree with OP. Early on in my career I had to generate on the fly reports for hundreds of GB of data and all it needed was to throw some *NIX commands around and eventually piping them to awk to do the final bit and it was blazing fast.

These days, these are called big data. No it isn't...

hackerm0nkey··on Ask HN: What are the UK/EU based remote-only companies or remote friendly?
Fair point. But if someone is likely to slack off when WFH, they pretty much can do the same at the office. It's a matter of discipline and productivity. I think one should be more concerned of managing the work (i.e. output) rather than the time or location.
hackerm0nkey··on Ask HN: What are the UK/EU based remote-only companies or remote friendly?
I think of it more like a productivity tool rather being a `perk`, but gotta explain that to who's in charge.
hackerm0nkey··on Ask HN: What are the UK/EU based remote-only companies or remote friendly?
I think there's a high degree of ignorance in this area nowadays. Companies (well old-fashioned managers) think of remote work as a way of slacking off work, hence not encouraging it or even offering it in the first place. It's only the people who do work remotely and know how to do so understand the productivity impact and the freedom it brings from being tied to an office all day every day in this day and age.
hackerm0nkey··on Show HN: Visalist – Find visa requirements for countries around the world
https://www.iatatravelcentre.com is my goto when it comes to visas. Not sure though if they provide this data over an API. and I heard that this is what airlines usually use.
