hablahaha··on Show HN: Using GitHub to tackle Ray Bradbury's 1,000 Nights Challenge
My thoughts exactly! This is a great resource, and the audience is probably very big (but the cross section who also use Github is probably not quite so big). I'd love to help as well.
hablahaha··on I found Prezi's source code
"We're pretty sure your actions were taken in good faith". Ouch, their email response contained barely an iota of gratitude and it was almost on the verge of passing judgement on his character.
hablahaha··on Why are Internet standards called “Request for Comments”?
Yeah, but then it's linked to my account then, right? I guess I was looking for more of a throw away picture hosting scheme
hablahaha··on Why are Internet standards called “Request for Comments”?
What's really hilarious is they tell you "Don't Move". I made a gif of the behavior in question, so you don't have to try it yourself. I inadvertently gave them like, five more kudos trying to capture it: http://oi39.tinypic.com/24e2kw1.jpg

Sorry, I never make videos, much less upload them, so I didn't really know what services to use. If anyone has recommendations, I'd love to hear about htem.

hablahaha··on Collaboration not Derision in the Node Community
I was really taken aback when I read that as well. I don't have the thickest skin and I would have probably just retreated into the forest if someone ever wrote that about me.
hablahaha··on Show HN: Headline Smasher
Yeah, that's probably the easiest way to 'link' content when you try to click it. I also want to know where they come from in general.
hablahaha··on Show HN: Headline Smasher
I didn't realize Upworthy was a spinoff from moveon.org, but now it all makes so much sense. I actually have never ended up reading anything from Upworthy, because before they show you any content they ask you questions like, "Do you think it's not not wrong to kill puppies? (YES) (NOT YES?)"
hablahaha··on Jolla CEO: You will soon be able turn your Android device into a Sailfish device
Yeah, I was just upset that it happened in the first place (and obviously, after a carrier update) It's mostly annoying because my phone keeps ignoring my preferences about how to open links from facebook and then one day NFL Mobile shows up and damnit, I can only be ignored so many times!
hablahaha··on GTFO of my menu bar
Speaking of menu bars... I really dislike how the current application's menu bar can infringe on the icon bar on OSX. I realize that on Windows, icons also minimize, but on OSX you can't just show all the icons like you can in Windows. If I'm in an app with a lot of menus, I have to switch to a less menu intensive app to get to an icon I want (usually Hangouts) (is there some way to change this? - Google returned nothing). Back when I switched to OSX from Windows, I was baffled by the one bar to rule them all approach. While it has it merits, allowing the bar to show infinite icons and letting apps control their menu/options width detracts from its 'cleanliness'.
hablahaha··on GTFO of my menu bar
And a retina one!
hablahaha··on Jolla CEO: You will soon be able turn your Android device into a Sailfish device
Oh man the Samsung version is the epitome of a train wreck. At some point, without my knowledge, NFL Mobile got installed on my phone and now every time I try to open a link, it completely ignores my preferences and asks me what program to open it with, one of which is NFL Mobile. It's just so nonsensical it's laughable. Nonstock Android is worse than Windows vendor bloatware.
hablahaha··on I'm a 16 year old HS student - Feedback on my first personal website?
Hm, I was just wondering why a personal site need to be powered by node? If it's just as a learning experience - no shame in that!
hablahaha··on I'm a 16 year old HS student - Feedback on my first personal website?
Hm, take a look at the Bootstrap scrollspy for reference, IIRC it updates your url, provided you play nice with its data api? It also gives you a class to light up the dots on the lower left hand corner, but that's nothing you couldn't write yourself.

I also am not a big fan of the color change, scroll as you go site. The colors are especially distracting if you scroll really quickly, because the timing has to catch up and you'll see colors change all at once. Font is a bit hard to read, I had to get really close to the screen to pick up the thin font on green when the page loaded.

The introduction is a little verbose. Combine that with the font, I had a hard time getting invested in it. It's a very cute story, maybe put the part about learning to code in its own section, something people don't have to pay attention to, then what you're up to right now in its' own section?

I'm kind of digging what's going on at the bottom of the page, it's more constructed and has a more consistent color scheme going on - maybe that is something that you could let flow through the rest of the site more?

hablahaha··on How you should never design your mobile app
That credit card is not really censored very well. For starters, the name should be blurred. As for those numbers, well, I think one can make a pretty educated guess in short time at what the 8 missing numbers are. Was there a reason behind partial censoring? I would think you would just want to go at it completely.

But man, scary stuff coming out of the App Store this week (in particular?)

hablahaha··on My deadly disease was just a 23andme bug
That's really interesting, I didn't realize they did that so blatently. It would definitely bother me. Let us know if you decide to do something about it!
hablahaha··on Motherfucking Website
Yeah, it's a joke, not satire. It could have been satire if he had incorporated all the bad web practices that he was making fun of, like add jQuery UI just for giggles and have items that were hidden at different resolutions - that sounds like the start of satire...
hablahaha··on Chrome logos in CSS
I mean, it could be no-classes-pure css if we just had divs with no classes and then used n-th child selectors, but then what is pure css?
hablahaha··on 120,000 Apps in BlackBerry World, 47,000 by one developer
In case anyone missed it: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/the-inside...

There are apparently some factual issues with this article, but it's good for getting a general feel of what was going on with the development side of things, why they couldn't have advanced UIs, etc..

hablahaha··on A 140-Acre Forest Is About to Materialize in the Middle of Detroit
Oaks are so beautiful and grow so quickly. Definitely my favorite tree. Hardwood trees will grow to have wider canopies so that plot size definitely makes sense.
hablahaha··on [dead]
Yeah... it's not the most beautiful place I've ever seen... I personally wouldn't want to work there, it's about 2 steps down from working in my own home.
hablahaha··on Finalterm - modern terminal done right
For a few seconds there I thought the Monsanto had a Github account. I was kind of excited to see what OSS they had.
hablahaha··on I asked for a t-shirt, I got a job
Beautiful personal site and congratulations!
hablahaha··on IKEA or Death-Metal
I really hope I never have to have a LACK table in my home again ;) For what they cost they are a great and functional piece of furniture, but once you have like $100 worth of LACK tables, you should really stop.
hablahaha··on IKEA or Death-Metal
I had a really good laugh at some of the furniture descriptions. "Lack is the name of an IKEA side table that isn’t lacking in style!"
hablahaha··on One Hour Hire - Hacking Engineer Interviews
That statement is pretty much antithesis to everything anyone has ever said about hiring amazing engineers...What's ironic is, a Rails interview test is actually best for people who are willing to learn Rails and demonstrate that they can solve your problem with your tools. It's not really great (and potentially offensive) for people who will most likely be able to pass those tests in their sleep.
hablahaha··on Inside the Arctic Circle, Where Your Facebook Data Live
So I get that it might be grammatically correct to use 'Data Live', but it sounds quite strange to me, I've never actually run across this before.
hablahaha··on Goldman Sachs has a problematic plan to keep its tech talent around
The Vanity Fair article made me sick to my stomach. I feel so, so bad for Serge. Too little, too late.
hablahaha··on There's a coffeeshop called java.update() in GTA V
Shows how I shouldn't just depend on google to solve my problems for me. I searched for something like "turn off preview" but I never made the connection that it was called minimap. It's only slightly annoying. Thanks!
hablahaha··on There's a coffeeshop called java.update() in GTA V
I've looked and looked for ages about how to turn that preview off... I don't think so.
