ha470··on Poll: Do you meditate?
Meditation is often confused with meditatIVE activities. Sitting and trying to meditate doesn't mean you'll meditate, but meditation almost always requires you to sit still. When you're in meditation, you'll know - your mind will be in a different state (akin to sleep).

Keep practicing :) it takes a while, but once you get it, I promise it's worth it.

Oh no! Sorry about that - any chance you remember which page?
ha470··on Ask HN: How can I learn "advanced" data modelling for Rails?
Scary o_O
ha470··on Should I use Go or Javascript?
If you've been hacking with PHP or python/django, pick one of those and try to get as far with it as you can. You'll have to learn JS for the client-side portions of your app, anyway.

I don't think Go or JS's similarity to C syntax will help much, as you'll get used to python or PHP's syntax intricacies relatively quickly. As you mentioned, PHP and Python having more support will help a lot, too, both with libraries and with support on StackOverflow/the web when you're stuck.

ha470··on Insights on the Y Combinator interview
Ah, perhaps "Apply for membership" is a misnomer. It's just a way for people who want to host their own to reach out to us. Anyone can comment on the Roundtable itself. We'd love to see your comments up there.
ha470··on Ask HN: How do you go about meeting cofounders?
I second this. Found my cofounder at http://theleanstartupmachine.com/, and it's worked out great. Going straight from one of these events to starting a company can be tough, since you don't really go through an extensive 'courting' period to get to know the person, but since you're both there to learn about startups, interests are already aligned.

It's sort of like going to speed-dating events.

ha470··on Ask HN: How do a website's costs scale? Where does money go?
Ah k, not an issue for a while, then. Thanks for the info!
ha470··on Poll: Facebook usage
*Decreases when I'm in a relationship. Less of a reason to socialize heavily.
ha470··on Moot: "sterile Facebook comments over provocative YouTube comments?"
Thank you for this comment! You're absolutely right - there was no reason for us to ask for write permission - fixed that.

I also think you're right about being clear when directing people to sign in (or do anything that requires them to give up their privacy) - we definitely need to rethink this.

ha470··on Poll: Facebook usage
I have to say - my time on facebook fluctuates heavily based on whether I'm single at the time...
ha470··on Ask HN: Where/How can I learn more about general webapp maintenance?
Thanks! Using delayed job already for certain API calls, but will think about how to use them more.

I think I definitely have to look into cacheing.

ha470··on Ask HN: Where/How can I learn more about general webapp maintenance?
This seems like the common point in each of these comments. Optimizing my ActiveRecord queries will be my first todo.
ha470··on Ask HN: Where/How can I learn more about general webapp maintenance?
Ah, thanks for the input on scaling. Good call - will worry when it comes.
