I’m so glad those horses got a peaceful retirement at the glue factory.
I wonder what they’ll process your corpse into. Soylent green? Or do you think you’re one of the lucky horses that a wealthy owner take care of?

Gee almost like someone you don’t want in your society at all.
And I mean all of them, left wing, right wing, corporate. I am sick of every level of power in the country being filled with lying grifters. I don’t care what happens to them, as long as they’re gone.
I feel like I’m living in a circus.
Indeed, wish we could do the same with insular Jewish communities in the northeastern US that siphon off welfare while running fraudulent charities that are basically a way to siphon money from unexpected natives across the country.
Still probably a benefit depending on your philosophy.
Fuck these parasitic scum. They deserve as much privacy as they offer me.
Hah, most of the people I know in the field, especially on that end of are desperate to get out of nursing. One was pursing some sort of environmental engineering degree.
The pay looks ok on paper, but the hours are apparently horrendous.
- teaching: unruly kids. Bully’s get protected and those who stand up get punished. There’s some level of societal distrust of men around children not their own.
- social work: you’re exposed to some of the worst most horrific side of society constantly for peanut pay. You’re constantly in a position where you want to help people, but are constrained by things far outside your power.
Yeah I don’t care how “masculine” you try to frame them, just not interested.
To all the dopes wondering why people hate your data center contribution craze so much this is why.
Don’t know why it needs to be spelled out so explicitly. It’s obvious to anyone with an IQ above room temp. I’ve seen it all over the country at this point. People are really made when their bills get real expensive.
Some years ago, I was workig with FreeBSD on an old laptop. The laptop had a wireless adapter that ostensible should be supported, but was not.
After some digging, I realized the driver was just missing some PCIe device identifiers. I added them to driver and bam my WiFi is working without issue.
I tried to submit a bug report and patch, and it got positive feedback at first any changes even got committed. But then I learned why it’s better to not even try.
Apparently this was a known issue, but only in the heads of the FreeBSD wireless developers. They had their reasons for not adding the device, but the reasons did not appear to be documented in mailing lists or docs until my thread. At that point I realized it’s not worth it to try and contribute to such large projects as I just lack the decades of institutional knowledge of the system.
Anyway, I’m not sure it ever got released. I believe there’s an umbrella bug somewhere left after the version my patch supported went out of support.
It wasn’t impressive when you wrote it by hand, it’s still not impressive when an AI does all the work for you.
Mocking the former is now culturally acceptable on HN, the latter not so much.
It’s because the machine is their god. Service to the machine provides your value, and by extension your right to exist. If someone is no longer capable of the serving the machine, they are discard. What that looks like exactly is not pretty
Some people are inherently incapable of proving more value to the machine than they consume. What is to be done with these “extra” people?
The questions make me think someone’s trying to train an LLM cartel boss.
Wealthy may not been 100% correlated with well connected, but there’s a lot of overlap. And being well connected is wayyy more useful than any fucking phone or LLM for the presented examples.
When I was a kid my parents were too broke and too busy for us to involve ourselves in extracurricular activities. It wasn’t until the latter half of my senior year of high school I was able to convince them to let me anything of that sort.
I guess with the model at least you guarantee very small class sizes.
> They should just say they'll never release a model of this caliber to the public at this point and say out loud we'll only get gimped
Duh, this was fucking obvious from the start. The only people saying otherwise were zealots who needed a quick line to dismiss legitimate concerns.
“Bangers” being roughly equivalent to garbage mass marketed radio pop? Or “We are Charlie Kirk” lol
This has basically been what all of Silicon Valley sounds like to me for a few years now.
They are known for abusing many psycho-stimulants out there. The stupid “manifesto” Marc Andreessen put out a while back sounded like adderall-produced drivel more than a coherent political manifesto.
I’ve been toying around at home with it and I’ve been fine with its output mostly (in a Java project ofc), but I’ve run into a few consistent problems
- The thing always trips up validating its work. It consistently tries to use powershell in a WSL environment I don’t have it installed in. It also seems to struggle with relative/absolute paths when running commands.
- Pricing makes no sense to me, but Jetbrains offering seems to have its own layer of abstraction in “credits” that just seem so opaque.
Then again, I mostly use this stuff for implementing tedious utilities/features. I’m not doing entity agent written and still do a lot of hand tweaks to code, because it’s still faster to just do it myself sometimes. Mostly all from all from the IDE still.
What do you mean? NYPost became front page HN material some years ago.
Indeed, a few years ago I considered making a leap to elsewhere, but damn near anything I’ve ever considered as a career is basically a dead end now. All that’s left is a direct downgrade.
But he’ll, maybe I can get a nice gig as Sam Altman butler if I invest in sycophantry skills enough.
Maybe 7-8 years ago I met an Iranian. They were genuinely shocked I wasn’t a cowboy hat wearing racist when I told them I was from the south.
I grew up in the Atlanta area.
