fwiw i'm using https://uptimefunk.com
As a long time lifestyle design/self-dev enthusiast, i've been trying a lot of routines, workouts, etc... along the years and i keep forgetting good stuff.
So i built this tool to keep track of my routines, create (complex) routine schedules, and share/discover other people's routines
Couldn't find an easy setup uptime monitoring service with some advanced features, so i built one. The features i missed in existing tools:
- monitoring databases (sql, mongodb) with simple queries, checking rabbitmq queues, checking OS memory and disk space.
- monitoring private resources not exposed on the internet and/or on private networks.
I recently used pymongoarrow to speed up data extraction from mongo in python as the deserialization from bson to python is super slow. Using pymongoarrow helped achieve nice speed improvements (average 3x to 5x)
Not only there's this limit but they also broke Tweetdeck which is the only way to really use Twitter
- monitoring sql databases with basic sql queries
- monitoring host cpu, ram and disk usage
- monitoring docker containers
- and being able to monitor all of this through ssh tunnels because not all my services are on the internet

ChatGpt is a statistical machine, but so are our brains. I guess we think of ourselves as conscious because we have a memory and that helps us build our own identity. And we have a main processing thread so we can iniate thoughts and actions, we don't need to wait on a user's input to respond to... So, if ChatGpt had a memory and a processing thread, it could build itself an identity and randomly initiate thoughts and/or actions. The results would be interesting i think, and not that far from what we call consciousness.
I've been a long time self development enthusiast, regularly trying out new health/mediation/workout routines and wanted a tool to keep track of my routines, help me schedule everything automatically and where i could share my routines and explore other users routines too.
I also regularly practice Andrew Weil's 478 breathing https://routineshub.com/public/items/fb2c75bd-4d6d-424e-925a...
Intercept's decision has nothing to do with this nbc article. Here's the emails exchange between Greenwald and Intercept editors: https://greenwald.substack.com/p/emails-with-intercept-edito...
It's an online RSS reader that i built, and one of the features might be of interest to you: It automatically aggregates news articles to items in your RSS feeds. That means that for most articles in your feeds, you have the original item from the website you subscribed to, but you also have a list of articles from different sources talking about the same story.
A nice side effect is that it can help avoid filter bubbles by giving more context to the stories you read.
I'm no expert and if someone more knowledgeable thinks there is something incorrect, it would be useful to clearly state what's wrong with this article instead of downvoting.
Well, you can downvote too if you want, but some explanations would be great!
Dietary antioxidants (vitamin C and sulforaphane) were shown to reduce oxidative-stress-induced acute inflammatory lung injury in patients receiving mechanical ventilation [15]. Other antioxidants (curcumin) have also been shown to have promising anti-inflammatory potential in pneumonia
i've had pain in my right achilles tendon for well over a year now, and although i've never had any symptoms, i've been diagnosed with gout / high uric acid levels in the blood. I didn't know that urate crystals can deposit in soft tissues/tendons, causing inflammation.
I've been taking allopurinol for a few months now and the tendonitis seems to be slowly going away but i'm not recovered yet.
Fwiw, i've built a RSS reader and i'm currently adding a recommendation feature to it. That's a feature i've always wanted to have in a RSS reader. If you want to check it out, it should available in the next few weeks (https://aktu.io)
Main features are: - items in your rss feeds are automatically categorized, names of people, places, etc... extracted. That means it's way easier to browse/filter your feeds when you have thousands of articles waiting to be read...
- items in your rss feeds are grouped together if about the same story. It really helps to reduce the noise in your feeds as you don't have duplicates any more, and at the same time it's convenient to have different sources/point of views for articles in your feeds.
Now, unless you're shooting for the unicorn status, there's a pretty good chance you can build a good product, compete and get enough customers to make a living. You don't have to be the best or the cheapest to compete and you don't need hundreds of thousands of customers to make a living.
In the end, i think it really depends on what you're trying to achieve: unicorn status or small side project that you'll enjoy working on and might someday become a full time job.
Either way you should try to do what you love, or if that's not an option, to learn to love what you do. That way, even if you don't succeed, your time won't be wasted and will be spent doing something you love.
You can check out the main features here: - https://aktu.io/about - and here https://medium.com/@julien.aktu/rss-less-noise-more-informat...
Off the top of my head, some issues i had with RSS and/or with the tools/RSS readers: - RSS can become en echo chamber if you have a limited number of feeds - Too many feeds and your feeds are flooded with a lot of noise - want to check the top stories of the day, or trending content? need to use a different tool than your RSS reader. - want to follow some social feeds but without the noise of social platforms?
I wrote something about the signal/noise ratio in RSS recently: https://medium.com/@julien.aktu/rss-less-noise-more-informat...
To solve these issues, i'm trying to bring something to the RSS ecosystem, and i built a news platform mixing RSS and traditional news aggregation. It has features to limit the noise and help avoid echo chambers. You can follow Facebook pages, Twitter users, etc... add your newsletters to declutter your mail box, and much more to come.
