grp··on A letter to our daughter
I don't think 'internet.org' is the best way to teach the lowly users how to best spend their money.

The responsability of teaching should be public (so like a government), not just 3 random guys.

Zuck also says "you need to work in a hangar"... Nah, I want my workplace to be better than my home.

grp··on A letter to our daughter
I don't disagree, but it's not because his wealth is actually valued at 45B that he deserves more democratic power than me or anyone else in the US or the world.

This trend for "corporations can make the world better" is misleading. Everyone else has failed: military corp, narco, public corp (as in ancient urrs), ... If only one has succeed, we should see it.

grp··on A letter to our daughter
What about the concrete initiative of just paying taxes in each countries where the real business is done?
grp··on A letter to our daughter
I would like to see the citation too.

Joke: in the late 80s, Stasi employed nearly 1 person for 50 people in East Germany. They just say they can do that 5 times better with internet, not impressive in 30 years of technical progress. Give us more!

grp··on The CEO Paying Everyone $70,000 Salaries Has Something to Hide
Yep, it seems to me that it's only an ad (hidden in the last paragraph) for the book about that salary thing.

Basically, this guy want to use the Paris Hilton Syndrom to growth. I'll be famous coz I'm rich coz I'm famous coz...

grp··on Raspberry Pi Zero: the $5 computer
Oh, yep sure! And the visible facts are?

(really, no needs to downvote me. I would love to see this thruth, just sceptical)

grp··on Raspberry Pi Zero: the $5 computer
Are you sure about 1? Where are the maths please? In my little circle, the only people who have raspberry already have awesome computers and co.

Curious about that.

grp··on The Exploitation of Paris
This behavior exists but is absolutely not common.

Please, stop that disinformation campaign, the guy who creates that video isn't totally neutral [1].

grp··on State of emergency declared across France after Paris shootings and explosions
I don't think they need to be informed.

Crystallizing on the fact that every terrorists are muslims is like saying that most serial killers are on average 1m75 and each pedophile have one left foot and one right foot.

grp··on State of emergency declared across France after Paris shootings and explosions
Please, wars of religions are from the 16th century [1].

In 2015, it's probably more linked with the foreign affairs and military operations.

grp··on State of emergency declared across France after Paris shootings and explosions
... and a lot more who are not disaffected and not marginalised if not rich.
grp··on How Finland plans to implement the first nation-wide basic income in the EU
I want to think basic income is a good idea.

But how the "bonus salary" will be calculated in the case of political jobs (to legislate) and above all army? Is there any texts on this subject?

grp··on NetSurf: Small, fast, free web browser
and as an alternative: qutebrowser!

same concept as dwb but with Qt and not gtk for those who cares.

grp··on Resigning from the Haskell Platform
Yes, it's easier to explain haskell with lists but having nice type signatures just hide reality and that's bad.

If someone want to compute lists, it could use a spreadsheet program. It's just better!

grp··on Resigning from the Haskell Platform
I think it's sad to resigning like that but the newcomer argument is misused in this controversy.

I started learning haskell 3 years ago with no background in CS nor in mathematical expertise. So I feel like I'm still a noob toying with ghc until late.

But I welcome that change with a big smile! In my opinion it resolves the list problem (who can be a jail sometimes). As a newcomer I always started with lists which often ended as a bad choice but I learned it that way...

Like: "Oh, wait.. those lists were cools but... WHAT? I need to change everything because just now there are too limited? Fffuuuhh..."

grp··on Facebook paid £4,327 corporation tax in the UK in 2014
Tax as money needs to move otherwise it has no value.

If you want to pay the least possible taxes, don't be surprised if your government will do its best to not support you, to not help you, to not listen to you...

"The less you pay, the less you'll get paid.

The more you pay, the more you'll get paid."

grp··on A poetic vision of Paris’ crumbling suburban high rises
Ahah :)

The title says poetic, not realistic!

grp··on A poetic vision of Paris’ crumbling suburban high rises
I think you can love it. Brutalism is the clear representation of how a few people (mayors, architects, ...) brutally decide how people can blossom and prosper.

It's tragic and beautiful (in my opinion).

Those visual representations ask a lot of questions too! For example, if we choose that stuff to live in at a certain time, what did we clearly decide on others politicals levels way more abstracts?

grp··on Tech companies lobbying for CISA are abandoning their users' privacy
I don't think so, and if any, it's worse if you're non-US. The main purposes of those bills is to allow things already used on non-US citizens (when the traffic goes through US).
grp··on France bids to reverse tech brain drain
And it is a dramatic error.

If 4% of people only speak a functional programming language, does it mean that you never need to learn one? Just because the vast majority historically speak imperative doesn't mean it's the best for your business. Same for OSes.

Diversity is source of wealth.

grp··on The end of Schengen
In 1992 (3 years before Schengen) there was just 15 states in UE and 672'000 migrants. Last year, 626'000 migrants for 28 states.

Yes, 23 y.o. tsunami really exists!

grp··on Defending the Right to Be Forgotten
It's working pratically in the case of DMCA... Am I not the owner of my privacy? My digital life isn't copyrighted? It's weird.
grp··on French Uber protests block airports
I don't think technology has some dark magical power where we can put our scruples into. Those scurple coming from that absurd job struggle.

Are we so bored with the struggle for life? Is that game really fun?

grp··on French Uber protests block airports
How riot if you are forced to work?
grp··on Antimony – A fresh look at CAD software
The main reason to use "code-based" solid modeling systems is it allows the use of version-control systems. We don't have things so powerful with traditional CAD.
grp··on Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Review
Thanks for the comment, it was what I searched at the time.
grp··on Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Review
Thank you for your advice!
grp··on Antimony – A fresh look at CAD software
I think the major problem in CAD/CAM software is the creation of technical drawings.

I enjoy every new CAD program (solvespace, implicitCAD, nanoCAD, ...) when they come but each time it lacks this vital function. Even fat dinausors like CATIA, Pro/E, Inventor & co have a very poor ux at that level.

So I will recommend to master the rules of technical drawings and geometric dimensionning and tolerancing before going to deep in 3D. Likewise, BRep, CSG, constraints solvers, code/GUI will be just straightforward "plugins". It's safer and more useable in real life.

By the way, the Purdue University have some good innovative lectures, ie. Erep [1]

Computer Aided Engineering Design by Anupam Saxena & Birendra Sahay is cool and informative.

In general, the Indian Institute of Technology of Kampur [2] has some pretty intense books on the subject.

Finally, Knowledge-based engineering [127] will extend a lot your future awesome opensource haskell CAD package!

Don't know if there are good, but I think it's a better options than Macs: http://www.metabox.com.au/

Just found them because I want a laptop without a webcam...
