Is that a new thing? When I graduated from Cornell back in 2000, the CS majors literally had recruiters throwing money at them. Even when I got my MBA, guys with engineering and CS backgrounds were courted heavily.

That said, I have seen an explosion in "Data Science" degree mills pumping out useless graduates. It will sadden me if CS has fallen that low.

Most of IQ testing is seen as being white supremacist in nature. If I were hiring, I would not touch it.

I miss the days of printed manuals, or even manuals at all. I killed a big software purchase years ago because they did not even have a PDF manual. The jerks told us to use their forums. No way I would spend money with such arrogant pr_cks. Needless to say, I find myself spending real coin on manuals on ebay. They are worth it.

Read the Mythical Man Month. If you have ever managed a software project, it will ring true and right like really good mythology. Write down pithy parts to steal for future slides in presentations to management.

I strongly support this. I also joined a debate/discussion group. It was a Christian thing, so I did not advertise my Buddhism, and the bible is not all that different than other odd old book, but once I could speak in front of eight people, speaking in front of fifty was not so hard. Also, make an effort to look at people's faces. This makes you seem less awkward.

I got scammed on AliExpress as well. It was for a $150 watch. The site went black after I filed the complaint, but AliExpress would not allow the return (it was like a fake version of a real watch sold on AliExpress, kind of like shipping a photo of the real item).

I had the same scam, but with a US gold eagle ($2,000 coin). I filed a report with the postal inspector, but I guess I learned to not buy expensive things online.
