I would recommend Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess. A real mind blower, especially when it comes to puzzles. I am close to that rating also so we could play sometime.
To be honest I am not sure what to do yet so we offer as doing all of these. Have had calls with 3 potential clients, all looking into our proposals one was in marketing and the others in development, looking to go into a better niche after reading these amazing comments. Should case studies be on previous work or can I do some for companies of choice?
We build out solutions for their ideas and projects, also focusing on enhancing their brand and even development some times. Well this is what I aim to do.
Do you think that blockchain is a niche by itself? Really facing issues into understanding what niche I should go to and having anxiety of letting go of clients on the way.
Thanks for those points. Really insightful. Wanted to ask 2 questions:
1. Would you mind saying what was your multiplier for the valuation when you sold the business?
2. How can I limit a retainer so that a client does not abuse it.
I proposed to companies to work one week for free with my team (we do not have paid clients yet) for testimonials that I can add later on to my website.
I read that Alan Weiss preferred to keep SOW detailed so that the client cannot give you extra work during the scope that was not the initial focus due to the vagueness.
To be honest i think that at first 80% is better in order to grow a portfolio and credibility in the industry, then the 50% is great. I don't think anyone would take the highest base rate at the beginning anyway.
I agree specification is better, but the issue is that I am afraid that would limit my clients especially that the first client is the hardest to find. I am working though on trying to be a "general" consulting company with a short term focus on one niche.
In buffering, the first 20 (N) posts are pre-determined and can therefor be buffered when still on the first video.
What I find amazing is their extremely accurate recommendation page that keeps you hooked to the application.
Honestly I needed to delete it after the first week since I spent so much time on it.
Bull markets and a strong financial situation usually pushes companies to overhire or over estimate the number of employees they do actually need. I have seen clients I worked with and we have advised 75% layoffs multiple of times. This is especially true in the dev teams.
It is not a conspiracy. Many companies do actually lay off a number of senior employees in downturns and rehire less experienced employees at a cheaper rate (taking into factor experience).
This layoff in my opinion will create one of the biggest startup revolutions (similar to 2008) in history. This number is just huge and we will see the effect in 2024 IMO.
Hi! I am also starting a tech consulting company, focusing more on blockchain as of now. Depends exactly if you want to grow as a consultant for firms or start your own business. I would advise with option B if you do not think you have a strong enough network to be able to get clients since its ~70% of the business. Go with option B, build a strong network and potential client list, exit and start your own company. I also would be down to chat if you like.
