gawa··on Browsh: The modern text-based web browser
Could you share why it misses the point according to you?

On the website the following use-case is mentioned: > run firefox remotely in order to "significantly reduce bandwidth and thus both increase browsing speeds and decrease bandwidth costs."

Another use-case would be running firefox on a remote server with just enough power while using ssh on a smaller, weaker, device (raspbery pi like, an old smartphone with termux, very old hardware, ...).

It's hard to build a browser engine, especially if you intend to support a seemless modern web experience (and thus with javascript, unlike all the text-browsers out there). Some even argue it's not possible to build a modern web browser engine anymore [1].

I think it's the point for browsh to rely on another piece of software that will focus on just that (headless firefox).

Browsh is described as a "text-based browser", but under the hood, a more technical accurate way to summarize it would be "a software to stream a remote firefox in your terminal". The concept (and why it saves bandwitch) is detailed on the docs section "What is browsh?" [2].

gawa··on Organization probably doesn't want to improve things
Not OP, but shokingly, what you describe _does_ exist. Or at least something similar for managing kubernetes. [0]

In my own experience, I at least once found one slack app that was configured throught spreadsheet. [1] It actually worked quite well.

Although in this context, I assume that by "infrastructure", OP was probably refering to the whole configuration of some Microsoft tools (PowerBI). I don't think it was about provisionning infrastructure. But I'm not familiar with PowerBI so it's only my guess. I would also love to hear more about InfrastructureAsSpreadsheet, if anyone have fun or horror stories to share :)

gawa··on ITER is one of the most ambitious energy projects
It's because scientists need money to do their work. And their work is to find things we don't know yet, or to check for things we are not sure of : it's a risky and costly business. Because scientists need money to get started, they have to appeal to the interests of those who are paying - i.e the tax payers. That's why the promise always precedes science work. After enough actual work, you'll have a better view of what's ahead. You'll be able to revise the roadmap and to measure the costs, or abandon it ...

To sum it up :

> ITER will be the first fusion device to produce net energy. You'll never get any funds (nor a high moral among the workers teams) if you frame your research project as "yet another (probably doomed) attempt at nuclear fusion energy".

gawa··on Windows 10 Review
SW Battlefront can run on linux, thanks to Wine. [1]

Wine can be a pain to use, if you're not comfortable enough with linux. But know that it's possible. I had the game running fine, only with some minor annoyances (like a very long loading time). But it was years ago, you might find a more recent version of Wine which runs the game smoothly, almost out of the box.

I just wanted to encourage you. Keep learning linux, keep toying with Wine, and you'll be able to play this game (and others) ;)

Edit : I realized you were probably referring to the newest SW Battlefront... My bad. Well, it still applies somewhat : Wine will be able, eventually, someday, to run this upcoming SW Battlefront.

https://github.com/10se1ucgo/DisableWinTracking/

No undo function, but you can choose between disabling or permanently removing tracking features.

It only removes the most "controversial" features of the OS (the "keylogger" part), but it may be of interest for those who still want some features, like everything related to security and/or the cloud.

Maybe it can serve as a basis for a more advanced software which will offer more cleaning options. Or maybe such a software already exists (I didn't search much).

gawa··on Greece draws up drachma plans, prepares to miss IMF payment
When you let anger and resentment dictate your policy, yes you're being irrational, by definition.

It was like 7 years ago. Now there's a difficult situation (a debt realistically impossible to pay) and different people in charge (not thieves and Goldman Sachs anymore [1]). Let's focus on viable solutions.

gawa··on Bonjour, Entrepreneurs – Only you can prevent French-Bashing
Not for the whole country. Most of europeans never heard of "gated communities". However they may get from the news (from the google bus and stars/hollywood stories for example) that the inequality gap between rich and poor is quickly widening in some regions of California. Hence those who heard of gated communities may believe they are frequent in this particular state at least.
