gabriel-uribe··on Habitual coffee intake shapes the microbiome, modifies physiology and cognition
I'm almost exactly 1 year coffee-free (not caffeine free, but significantly less because tea is much less addictive for me).

Also positive in the long-term for me. Fewer digestive issues, less spiky dopamine sensitive or impulsiveness and performance during the day, better memory. I wish it weren't so.

But damn was the 3-6 months of anhedonia awful. I still feel pangs of it.

gabriel-uribe··on Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (April 2026)
The toolbox for anxiously attached people, like myself: https://www.attachedapp.com

Most iOS/Android mental wellness apps are trying to be everything for everyone, ie general AI journaling or meditations.

By niching down, we can build the best experience end-to-end for anyone that resonates with these particular emotional challenges.

gabriel-uribe··on Launch HN: Twill.ai (YC S25) – Delegate to cloud agents, get back PRs
100% this.

I also have Claude Cowork automations running constantly. As-is, I can't shut down my laptop, and it gets frustrating when my laptop is in my backpack all day because of commutes or travel.

gabriel-uribe··on OpenAI's fall from grace as investors race to Anthropic
TIL. That's cool. I mostly use Gemini 3 Flash for some background jobs because of the price/perf, but rooting for their models to improve. Competition is good.
gabriel-uribe··on OpenAI's fall from grace as investors race to Anthropic
Is anti-Google sentiment still pretty loud? People seem excited about Gemini catching up + Gemma 4
gabriel-uribe··on Every layer of review makes you 10x slower
Presumably they will be contacted if there's a problem. So the hire has an interest in not creating problems.

gabriel-uribe··on Ex-GitHub CEO launches a new developer platform for AI agents
The moltbook-ification of every online forum seems inevitable this year. I wish we had a counter to this.
gabriel-uribe··on Doing the thing is doing the thing
This reminds me of how bad browsing the internet will likely get this year. There are a ton of 'Cursor for marketing' style startups going online now that basically spam every acquisition channel possible.

Not sure about this user specifically, but interesting that a lot of their comments follow a pattern of '<x> nailed it'

gabriel-uribe··on Your app subscription is now my weekend project
I'm very bullish on vibe coding generally, but I dont expect this will become a trend.

Most people don't make or maintain their own things, period. Vibe coding will mostly cannibalize expensive B2B contracts from a pre-LLM era where integrations and maintenance were expensive.

gabriel-uribe··on First impressions of Claude Cowork
Yep, lots of bike shedding right now.

To be fair, Cowork and similar things are just trying to take the agentic workflows and tools that developers are already accessing (eg most of us have already been working with files in Cursor/CC/Codex for a long time now, it's nothing new) and making them friendly for others.

gabriel-uribe··on Opus 4.5 is not the normal AI agent experience that I have had thus far
Does the corner bakery need a moat to be a business?

How many people understand the underlying operating system their code runs on? Can even read assembly or C?

Even before LLMs, there were plenty of copy-paste JS bootcamp grads that helped people build software businesses.

gabriel-uribe··on Opus 4.5 is not the normal AI agent experience that I have had thus far
This reminds me of how much screensavers on Mac are a PITA. But yes, such a boon for us doodad makers.

Yes
gabriel-uribe··on Ask HN: Those making $500/month on side projects in 2025 – Show and tell
Sadly not $500/mo, but I do get a few sales on https://dailychinesestories.com each month. It's as simple as it sounds - a story in Chinese at your HSK level for your preferred themes once a day.
gabriel-uribe··on Andrej Karpathy – It will take a decade to work through the issues with agents
Deeply excited about vibe coding -- my non-technical cofounder 'codes' now.
gabriel-uribe··on Claude Sonnet 4.5
That is one of many things! I offer that because I've had enough people request it over the past year.

Otherwise, I do professional software consulting + a variety of projects as an independent.

Very interesting observation.

I haven’t written a function by hand in 18 months.

gabriel-uribe··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (July 2025)
https://attachedapp.com

We focus on people with relationship issues, and so far it's been deeply fulfilling. So many people have written in about how this has helped them heal.

Launched with React Native about 8 weeks ago, and continuing to grow fast. This is a niche space with lots of potential over the next few years I think.

Just submitted an update to help people compare their unique relationship needs to others which is so cool.

Still figuring out how to pitch it, but so far it's 'Duolingo for relationship issues'

We launched this month and are growing fast which is exciting. I'm mostly impressed by how easy React Native has gotten, as a long-time native Apple Platforms dev, given all the training LLMs have on React.

gabriel-uribe··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (May 2025)
Nudges Mandarin-Chinese learners to read comprehensible input for 3 mins/day without an app :)

Simply emails you the story with chinese characters, pinyin, etc based on your level and story topics of interest

I love this site. So simple, so effective. Thanks for putting these Minis out there at fair prices!
gabriel-uribe··on Ask HN: SWEs how do you future-proof your career in light of LLMs?
Cryptocurrency more broadly can be used to send vast amounts of money, anywhere in the world for near-zero fees regardless of sovereignty. And Bitcoin is still faster and cheaper than shipping gold around.

Flixed (https://flixed.io) | Remote | Frontend Engineer (React) | Full-time

Flixed is a website that helps people navigate the rapidly evolving streaming ecosystem. Our platform currently generates thousands of customers for companies like Hulu and Disney through our content, resources, and tools for navigating the streaming landscape.

Right now, we’re in the process of building out a suite of programmatic SEO tools that will drastically increase the number of subscribers we drive to our streaming partners.

This is primarily a React position. Experience with NextJS/GatsbyJS would make for a great fit.

gabriel-uribe··on Isolation, anxiety, and depression in the remote workplace
As a young person working remotely, I just realized the value of that this week; breaking up my workday at the climbing gym has helped me feel less isolated. I enjoy my solitude, but I still need to socialize during work hours somehow. While there aren’t many people at my climbing gym around noon, those who are there also seem open to chatting or being a climbing partner.

There is also a cafe upstairs which is convenient for lunch and the second half of the workday.

gabriel-uribe··on Apple Plans to Ship 16-Inch MacBook Pro This Year
I usually find a coffee shop with large enough tables intended for laptops. I just enjoy being out and doing work on my 15” screen from time to time.
gabriel-uribe··on Support for right-to-repair laws slowly grows
I also use DDG and would use a shop. I used to even repair iPhones for myself and others, but I just don’t have the tools or expertise these days.
