g5095··on Sqlite: Code Of Conduct
Why not try out your theory by attributing the CoC for your ridiculously successful opensource project to allah?

g5095··on Google, Apple ditch college degree requirements
A google recruiter approached me after a talk at pycon years ago (I am a self-taught programmer of 20years) asking if I was looking for a job because I sounded like just the kind of person they were looking for. I informed him that his company was not interested in hiring under-educated plebs like myself, took his google yo-yo and walked off. I still have it as a trophy :)
g5095··on In horrific detail, women accuse U.S. customs officers of invasive body searches
Why can't we call this what it is, govt sanctioned rape of minors.
g5095··on Tips on using the Curl Command in Linux
don't. use httpie ;p
g5095··on Show HN: Paperkast
is this opensource?
g5095··on Pop_OS 18.04: the state of the art in GNU/Linux on desktop
This started out as an overview of a new desktop bundle and quickly turned into a rant about why gnome shouldn't change your favorite feature..
g5095··on Our experience launching a paid, proprietary product on Linux
The one thing I miss on linux is a good mail client.

Currently using Mailspring, but honestly the paid mail clients for OSX leave anything on Linux in the dust. Airmail is my personal favorite and it's $9.99.. a couple of cups of coffee for a great experience in an area that touches your life a dozen times a day? Absolutely I'd pay for a GOOD mail client on Linux.

g5095··on Ask HN: Were you happy moving your API from REST to GraphQL?
100% agree, RPC was good enough for our forefathers ;) REST and graphQL are both terrible (there, it had to be said).

There's no reason someone who wants an expressive query language like graphQL provides couldn't send that query over gRPC, in which case all the benefits are moot, you can do both. But let the rest of us just make regular RPC calls.

g5095··on Bug bounties are a joke
There are two kinds of buyers for bugs, if you let the market decide bounties might be more rewarding ;)
g5095··on Google and HTTP
Why is there no proliferation of letsencrypt authorities? If we're all about making https easy and not about central authority, why not have 100+ letsencrypt authorities run by different groups?

The truth is the new decentralised web does not suit the old https signing-AUTHORITY model. it's time for a decentralised system with no authority other than key-holding. The same goes for DNS.

g5095··on Google and HTTP
https is only as secure as who's holding your root signing keys (govt agencies). If you want security layer it ontop of https with pub/priv key crypto. https is just the new hoop, jump through it and move on, but lets not pretend https stops anyone important.
g5095··on Startup Ideas We'd Like to Fund (2008)
I have the answer to #3, New news, I really do. It's been percolating in my mind for 12 months now, I know how to build it too. However I am not a business man and I have a family to feed so I'm working on someone else's software to put the kids through school. - every-dev-ever.

The stripe API has fraud detection built in to it, we've set our integration to reject at the lowest threshold for fraud, and we report that back to the user as the reason their transaction failed.
g5095··on [dead]
The stripe golang api is actually really pleasant to work with, the whole thing is 6kb of front-end in an s3 bucket and a 23 lines of go on a $4/month scaleway server. #bootstrapping
g5095··on JSON API testing in bash
Recently I needed to write some tests for a REST API that I had been exploring with httpie.

Rather than reach for $languageTestSuiteOfChoice I combined a few existing CLI projects and discovered a very simple and fun way to test web apis.
