A super duper secure locked cabinet acessible only to them or anyone with a bolt cutter.

You want to host servers on your own hardare? Uh yikes. Let's unpack this. As a certified AWS Kubernetes professional time & money waster, I can say with authority that this goes against professional standards (?) and is therefore not a good look. Furthermore, I can confirm that this isn't it chief.

Necroing this, but my general opinion is that anonymousity is more of a question of extent and the shape of anonymousity sets than a binary condition of anonymouse/public. But you are correct that we can never satisfy the binary condition.

Given enough foresnsics, it's possible to link pseudoanonymouse identities to real identities. See chainalysis. I'm sure if you apply stylometry to either of our posts, you could uncover our identities. I think there was a post here doing just that.

So my real problem with the pseudoanonymouse model is that when if fails, it generally favors centralized institutions in who are capable of the surveilance needed for correlation. It is asymmetric. People say that bitcoin's transparency is a feature, but the feature is only accessible to those with the metadata, like arkham or chainalysis. Reputation systems can be very useful though.

the upgradability and interchangibility of parts in the framework ecosystem are needed to sustain a shelling point.

As for the PC ecosystem, there are no good x86 cpus with good power effciciency. Maybe geohot would like https://metacomputing.io/products/metacomputing-arm-aipc ? Framework 13 does not have his specific touchpad complaint

The transaction wasn't really anonymouse in the first place, but I agree that the UI should warn users more when working in "light wallet" mode.
fruitworks··on How stealth addresses work in Monero
The current implementation of monero's tech is less advanced than zcash, but stealth addresses are as secure as ECC gets. The idea comes from ECDH.

The weakness in monero's cryptography is dependence on ring signatures, which will be improved with the FCMP++ upgrade. In other words, it is an issue of sender privacy. Stealth addresses protect recipient privacy.

I didn't find a major trust or cost issue. I just use kraken. Or you can use any other fiat-to-crypto exchange and then take it to a crypto-to-crypto exchange.

I think the bigger obstacle to most people is just the idea that cryptocurrency is difficult, and the idea that buisnesses are trustworthy by default.

fruitworks··on How stealth addresses work in Monero
Equities markets don't have to deal with "tainted" transactions, because every transaction is like a government-approved deed or title transfer.

Bitcoin's transaction rate is artificially limited.

It's developed naturally through reputation systems, escrow, etc.

I am not a naturalist. I simply believe that the industral revolution and its consequequences have been a disaster for the human race.

Such policies will be popular as long as eugenics-apoligists like yourself exist. Gene editing is not slow at all compared to breeding programs of chattel slavery, and it is not subject to short-term economic and military conditions like ordinary dictatorships are. Once it is unlocked, you have a pathway to creating an underclass that can NEVER revolt.

Poor countries can just outsource the task to the first world in the same way they outsource surveilance today. Bred slaves are more subserviant and better workers, 4/5 genetic engineers agree!

fruitworks··on Startups are pushing the boundaries of reproductive genetics
I am well aware of that effect and how it does not refute my claim.

If parents have some sort of health issue after reproductive age, that diminishes their ability to help their offspring.

Not to mention that juveniles also get dental problems. We live in a society where you need to get braces in order to look attractive and get a mate. We are breeding people who do not have the features they need to survive without artifical intervention.

fruitworks··on Startups are pushing the boundaries of reproductive genetics
> And the idea of genetically engineering an under-class is equally absurd. Who would buy-in to that?

Artificial selection of slaves has already existed in the US historicially with chattel slavery. It is merely one regime change away
