freeamz··on Foreign visits into the U.S. fell off a cliff in March
yeah locking up for 2 weeks just doesn't make any economic sense, it must cost the tax payer a fortune vs just deport them?
freeamz··on What If We Made Advertising Illegal?
I don't know about 'advertising', but Bahai don't allow campaigning when running for leadership position. I would imagine it would be some where along line of that. It encourage action speakers louder than words.

With all the modern techniques (used by neurosciences) in the modern advertising is pretty all entrainment and brain washing at this point any way. So no harm in making all that illegal. I'm pretty ok with a world with no advertising, and just function by word of mouth and network of trust.

freeamz··on AI agents: Less capability, more reliability, please
same can be said about digital tech/infrastructure in general!
freeamz··on Apple shuffles AI executive ranks in bid to turn around Siri
Not sure if he did it, but from what I heard from friends who worked with him, wouldn't be surprised if he did. Really love the guy as someone who combined creativity and tech, but these kind of things is one of least things I liked about him. It is one these Trumpisuqe quality playing hard ball, etc. Very US business like tend to be very off putting.
freeamz··on uv downloads overtake Poetry for Wagtail users
Agree, however for user who want to get faster speed out of python wouldn't that just work with rustpython? It can also run in the browser then.
freeamz··on uv downloads overtake Poetry for Wagtail users
what about https://github.com/RustPython/RustPython ?
freeamz··on uv downloads overtake Poetry for Wagtail users
What about using https://github.com/RustPython/RustPython also?
freeamz··on uBlock Origin is no longer available on the Chrome Store
Librewolf is also pretty good, better privacy than Firefox. If you using firefox, might as well just use that instead.
freeamz··on Revolt: Open-Source Alternative to Discord
It is hard to get E2E (device 2 device) right. I get matrix is not perfect, but I have jet seen an open source alternative with both server/client implementation that get it right.

One thing about matrix is that every device has a key in addition to the password, that key in in addition encrypted with another password, it makes it very difficult for average user, but then just use matrix in unencrypted mode to get the slack/discord effect.

freeamz··on FlakeUI
Runs pretty ok on Chromium (degoogled) on Linux with 8GB ram spec.
freeamz··on Show HN: FlakeUI
Or that Apple space based file system back in the 80's.

Try this a bit, it would be nice to be able to go directly to the grand-child, instead having to bring up the parent before going the child. Other wise can be a much better file naviation system then what we have. Especially on touch screen I would image.

freeamz··on Ggwave: Tiny Data-over-Sound Library
There are a lot open source one:

https://github.com/quiet/quiet-js

Remember seeing them quite a bit a few years ago.

freeamz··on EdgeDB is now Gel and Postgres is the future
Just wonder what is the advantage of Redshift vs using something such as https://github.com/hydradatabase/columnar, if we are already using postgres?
freeamz··on Bookshop.org launches Kindle alternative, sends e-book sales to local bookstores
When you buy. You can chose to put the profit to a specific local bookshop or into a group fund. Sounds like a great coop idea. Maybe the only thing to compete with heavily subsidized Amazon big corp.

It is sooo annoying to NOT be able to find any books online except for AMZ or the companies they bought up goodread.

freeamz··on Amazon's killing a feature that let you download and backup Kindle books
bookshop.org is very nice alternative!

I'm happy to spend more money on that than using Amazon or any other big corp. They are heavily subsidized and in the long rung destroy people community and the world in general.
