freddier··on Ask HN: Bad experiences after sharing your idea?
I had a similar experience and, in that time, it sure felt like a major headache. But right now, I think thanks to that I had way more motivation, someone to compete and a clear goal to beat. And yes, I eventually "won" like you say you did. Competition never hurts when you're in it to win.

It was a major push that really helped me.

freddier··on Thoughts on Flash
That las paragraph strikes me as inconsiderate and a lot of guess-work. There's nothing wrong in wanting a website to work in a device who markets itself as something to browse "the full web".

As he said: "Buying shit from the App Store is not the Internet I signed up for.", but that's Apple's vision for internet. One they control, pre-approve and sell in their market.

freddier··on IE9 to support SVG and some CSS3
It's kinda sad for Win7 Phone. Right now, all the browser innovation is beginning to have its base on mobile devices. I think it's thanks to the webkit implementation on the iPhone that traction for HTML5 has accelerated on the last two years.

All modern smartphones have some kind of HTML 5 support and most mobile websites use the iPhone as their main target. So it is sad to see so many good decisions on Win7 Phone going to waste because of really old/legacy technology.

I guess it's impossible for Microsoft to use Webkit, politically speaking.

I don't think they want to remain incompatible anymore. This has been true for a long time, but you have to look closely at IE8 to see the signals. They're really trying hard to change.

I suspect there are some execs who are still not so eager to support open standards, but the IE devs are very willing to change for good.

freddier··on Ask HN: How many of you founders are girls ?
Well, a simple search turns this out: http://tinyurl.com/yljrtuc

So it's fair to say the signature may be correct.

freddier··on Australian Government wants Google to filter YouTube like it does for China
_The Chinese censorship that Google is supposedly pulling the plug on._

A lot of talking, but so far everything looks business as usual in China, AFAIK.

freddier··on Firefox 3.6 Released
rotate? That doesn't seem to work for me. An special extension?
freddier··on Scamville: The Social Gaming Ecosystem of Hell
Why is it sad?
freddier··on Google Wave's 'Fail Whale'
Of course, you're not comparing fair examples of SWF vs. jQuery. I guess it's ok to ignore the obvious advantages of Flash if you can bash a full features app or animation compared to the Google Wave error page.

OT: I understand facebook notes may bring you more readers when you link your blog to it, but I feel them as an internet black hole.

freddier··on Ask HN: Why not Flex?
hu? There is profiling and tracing (actually is native if you have Flex Builder on debug mode). And DOM inspection doesn't make sense in Flex.

And you can have SEO in Flex easily. Check it out: http://www.google.com/search?q=listen+to+free+music+online

freddier··on Ask HN: Why not Flex?
Actually, you DO have Firebug and in a very powerful way: http://labs.findsubstance.com/2008/02/26/firebugs-console-lo... http://snook.ca/archives/quick_links/quick_link_debug_flash_...
freddier··on "All I do is work here"
Which is exactly the point. I don't think this essay is aimed to employees. It's for employers.
