frankzander··on Using ChatGPT is not bad for the environment
Finally someone who speaks this out. What we do is more or less fly poop ... good four own well being but with almost zero impact. I'll go on doing some things because I think that some of that are the better ways to handle this or that or it's better for my health but with no expectation that I'll change anything.
frankzander··on GLP-1 pills are coming, and they could revolutionize weight-loss treatment
But why? Just eat no crap and work out. This is long lasting if it's a full life change.

I'm almost always skeptical of all this shiny persons out everybody is excited about. Most often they have a lot of corpses in the cellar.
frankzander··on Trainwreck Design
everything is systemd ... your system overlord
frankzander··on Trainwreck Design
not everything ... just plain remote work over sftp or ftp seems to be impossible. You always work some sort local and than it's pushed. There is no real "remote client" out there. Atom did have plugin which worked quite well accomplishing this task.
frankzander··on SponsorBlock – skip sponsor segments on YouTube
Most thread opener start with "I" ... seems that people need to make a statement why or why they are not using Sponsorblock. Interesting.
frankzander··on Nearly 2M metric tons of wild fish used to feed Norwegian farmed salmon annually
Really? In Asia Tofu and Tempeh is well established in the cuisine so ... At the end it's a matter of getting used to new tastes.
frankzander··on Beekeeper furious over destruction of $2M honey crop
You have a wise wife :)
frankzander··on Beekeeper furious over destruction of $2M honey crop
As far as I know this method is done by commercial beekeepers. Well at the end you are have to choose to burn it all and face big investment or to invest work. It's right that the artificial swarm has to "hunger" a bit. At the end you get no honey from the bees and have to invest in new frames and sugar. It's no visit in the candy store if you have AFB but burning everything seem to be a last resort solution which isn't nowadays necessary anymore. The other problem you are facing are the beekeepers around you ... they have to do the same and than there are some black sheep which are not known to the veterinary administration. They can also contribute to a never ending AFB problem.

At the end hygiene (torching unused hives and frames) is the first thing everybody can do to prevent such situation.

frankzander··on Beekeeper furious over destruction of $2M honey crop
Hm here in Germany we do not burn hives. If AFB occurs the hives have to be heat threaded with a torch (plastic ones have to be cleaned with soda lye). The frames have to be burned or cleaned in soda lye. the bee swarm itself get new frames without any foundation so that they have to build combs of their own. This process must be repeated until no spores are found anymore. Back in the days the beekeepers had to burn their hives but this is from the old days.
frankzander··on Feathers are one of evolution's cleverest inventions
well ... I believe that this pencil on my desk did evolve over thousandtrillion years so you should do. We don't know why this simple pencil did evolve but somehow this did happen. Just believe and at this time don't be Mr Spock.
frankzander··on How to think about HTML responsive images
To be honest ... this is IMHO by far one of the most complicated thing in the whole webdev area. I don't get it why ppl complain about how difficult CSS is ... but to foresee how an image behaves and find a good balance between size and file size is a hart thing to juggle with.

This article clarifies a lot of things for me so thx for that.

frankzander··on Shutting down the letsblock.it project and its official instance
Well ... Bubbles are everywhere ... you may live in one too? So maybe I am. "not so bad" ... means what? It's bad but I got used to it. For me this is always the beginning of the end ;-)
frankzander··on Simple Lasts Longer
Why do you think prompts are necessary? If you don't send any data to third parties or let them store data on the users device you don't have to prompt anything GDPR related.
frankzander··on WordPress plugins are a little sad?
That's exactly one huge point why I do not work with Wordpress on new projects. I use for example Contao (https://www.contao.org) because it already have everything to build a full website. Yes I also use plugins in this system but it really enhances the core system with some nice features. To me Wordpress seems to be CMS torture and I do not really understand why so many ppl got hooked on this system.
frankzander··on How to boss without being bossy
Tbh ... what I miss is a honest "please" and a even more honest "thank you". And all that though our parents said hopefully often "say 'please' and 'thank you'". Honest appreciation is a key which opens many doors and hearts.
frankzander··on Ardour 8.0
I many times used Ableton ... tbh it's not less complicated then Ardour. You can use yabridge for Win vsts ... works quite good for the most plugins IMHO but on kx.studio you find a hell lot of Linux native plugins ... don't look as fancy as commercial ones but they do what they should do. Music production in Linux is often a bit more hackyhack but it's ok so far. At least this are all tools ... using them is the real art behind that.
frankzander··on Redesigned Google Fonts website
To be honest ... I don't like it. I would like to display the fonts as squares. I often didn't choose a font because it has disadvantages in readability compared to another font if it's used to show text in a paragraph.

Why is now everything on the left side? The filter is compared to the filters of adobe or other big font sites more or less unsophisticated. Why always this senseless upgrades?

you haven't do it that way if don't want. It's just the school way and how many people can speak or even understanding fluently after leaving school?

frankzander··on Study finds billions of nanoplastics released when microwaving containers
I don't get it, why people not using glassware ... glass has some small convenience problems though but it's save. The biggest problem is convenience IMHO.
frankzander··on WordPress Playground: A WordPress that runs entirely in the browser
Lern to code (at least a little bit) and if not ... Contao. CSS isn't considered "coding"
frankzander··on Windows 11: TPMs and Digital Sovereignty
> It's like "if there's a will, there's a way".

and that's one of the reasons I see no use in TPM. This is also a layer of complexity which usually is the opposite of more security. TBH I don't get it why people cheer this TPM and Secure Boot stuff as much.

frankzander··on Americans Gaining Most Weight in Their 20s and 30s: What They Can Do
then just don't count calories, don't plan diets. just prepare your food and eat. it takes around 2 hours. at the end this is one of the most important activities because you care about your fuel.
frankzander··on Car thieves using tech disguised inside old Nokia phones and Bluetooth speakers
Why does the lights need a can bus connector nearby? No serious company put an ethernet port outside the building or use a wifi without encryption. I wonder what lunatics are this car designers/manufacturers .

frankzander··on “Healthy obesity” doesn’t exist. It is unequivocally bad for you
Shame is a powerful demotivator. Guilt is a good motivator.
frankzander··on “Healthy obesity” doesn’t exist. It is unequivocally bad for you
They choose it a bit. First eating all the day long some crap (sweets, processed food, fiberless industrial food), drinking sweet sodas and not walking/doing real sports is a choice. It's the choice to live unhealthy. They should feel bad the same way smokers should feel bad. It's quite a disrespect for oneself.
