foxpc··on The Orange Box: Cloud for the Free Man
The name is somewhat unlucky as The Orange Box[1] already exists.

foxpc··on Arduino Vs. Raspberry Pi: Which Is The Right DIY Platform For You?
I don't think that an article this long was required to compare an Arduino with a Pi.

The comparison chart also seems to want to make Arduino look like something you would not want. It does not really reveal anything of meaning as these are two different machines.

In my opinion the definition, comparison should only mention that an Arduino is meant for real-time hardware-specific controlling/monitoring while a Pi is more like a small computer that has a possibility of controlling/monitoring a few hardware elements.

foxpc··on Show HN: Textter, Live letter-by-letter messaging for iOS
I thought, it was pretty hilarious of Google Wave to have that "live chat" function. Maybe, it needed some kind of a "live editing" period after which you could not just edit/delete your message. But it's hard to say as it was not a big success. I wonder, what's the influence on bandwidth used on "live chat".

P.S. I miss Google Wave occasionally :(

foxpc··on It's a Dumbphone, But It's the Nicest Dumbphone You Can Buy
I don't understand the need to be on a contract :)

I guess, that's just a thing that I won't understand because I'm not American.

foxpc··on It's a Dumbphone, But It's the Nicest Dumbphone You Can Buy
I'm not sure about that kind of stuff, but it's GSM 1800 and 900 so that's two bands, right? I don't know about the CDMA versions though.
foxpc··on It's a Dumbphone, But It's the Nicest Dumbphone You Can Buy
For such a "dumbphone", it seems to be kind of pricey, in my opinion. The camera sensor is probably the most expensive there :)

For a seriously dumb phone, I'd go for a Nokia 100 or 101 (2 sim slots). It's got absolutely nothing - not any kind of web/wap accessibility, no front/back camera or a memory card slot. A resolution of a handsome 128 x 160 and a battery life of ~35 days. All for a price of ~20-40 bucks.

foxpc··on The CODE Keyboard
I agree! It's truly overpriced. I have expected a cheapish, not groundbreakingly, but still, cheapish mechanical keyboard as it was presented by some programmer, not a company that is going for money money money all the way.

But looking at the price, you could easily get a Das Keyboard Model S with Blue/Red/Brown (your choice!) keyswitches and also, there's a discount during the school-preparation period.

foxpc··on Is the Android smartwatch hot or a flop?
I would see why it's so expensive as it's specs are quite great for that kind of a thing. But are that kind of specs (1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage) really needed for it when it could basically just do most of the work in the smartphone it's connected to?
foxpc··on Blackberry Officially Up For Sale
In my dreams, I have a vision that Blackberry will be sold to some major company that will continue to use the great engineers of Blackberry to create a truly magnificant QWERTY smartphone that will have the durability, usability of the previous Blackberries but will use a not-so-obnoxiously money greedy (read: BES) platform.

The market really lacks a proper QWERTY phone with Android.

In the meanwhile, I'll just keep on using my BB9700, I guess...

foxpc··on PHP PDO: A How To
Once, I decided to do a project by using basic SQL libraries, let's say this includes PDO as it's almost a standard.

Then I thought, why would I use OOP (as PDO can only do that) if my project is not that big? I would not use PDO if I don't have a bigger project.

But. If I have a bigger project, why would I use basic stuff like PDO and not some ORM library?

foxpc··on Papers, Please - A Dystopian Document Thriller
Being Eastern European (Lithuanian with a Ukranian last name), I actually found a woman with my last name which was awesome! And actually, it kind of reflects on how living sort of was in that era. Shit.
