I wonder what the license it. The guy from copy.sh promised to make it open source, but didn't yet. Can I hope?
fosap··on US bugged Merkel's phone from 2002 until 2013, report claims
She got a medal for fighting a surveillance state (historically quite questionable, btw) by a Obama. And now she has to learn that Obama is no better.

I don't know what you are referring to. But for a americanophile who sees the USA as the leader of the free world and protector of human rights that a way more shocking than if a known police state does it. Et tu, Brute?

Why does a language have a word for such a thing? Is it common? I haven't even thought about the possibility of the existence of such a thing till now.

Ok, Occams razor is sexist?

/edit: Also there is sound evidence that psychology tends to biases the interest in technical stuff toward the male gender.

/edit 2: I'd like to answer, but it seem I'm banned.

There is my reply:

I'm not saying that this is necessarily the simplest explanation. But it's looks like a far simpler explanation than a worldwide cultural conspiracy against women.

Also, in my personal experience the environment in school and in university always encouraged women and girls to do "computer stuff" and yet the quota was about 10%. But that do also mean, as far as i could witness it, encouragement by male and female peers. I know, it's purely anecdotal, but make me think of this can't be that simple.

I'm sorry about the quotes. If i could quote i would have done it earlier, but i have atm no access to the scientific search engines. I'm not suggesting there is a consensus, but labeling this off as absurd... is absurd. If you are lucky enough to have access to papers search for "gender differences newborn" yields to several results. And, as far as i can remember, differences in language development, in preference pictures of faces or abstract pictures.

That said, I'm not a fan of evo psych. It's highly inductive, and often far from the simplest explanation.

There are parasites, Toxoplasma gondii, that do change human behavior to the point of making suicide more likely and cause mensurable changes in social interaction. (These do depend on gender aswell). If you think that the vastly different hormones in the human body do not affect social interaction, while a simple infection can, that seems to me something you have to prove and not something i have to disprove.

Where is the sexism in that post? Or racism?
fosap··on [dead]
If i could downvote you, I would. Mocking a statement that says that mocking does not help to prove your point is pretty much the worst thing you can do in a conversation.

Evopsych is mostly esoteric. But denying a influence of evolution on psychology (nature vs nurture) and/or differences based on that is for the left wing what creationism is for the right. Evolution denialism seems to be very popular in the states.
fosap··on USB Condoms
Interesting. But I'm looking for the opposite. I often have to access my phone, kindle, whatever data, but do not want to charge it. But I guess the usb controller will not accept a data-only connection.
fosap··on HHVM is fast – too bad it doesn’t run my code
I don't see the point of HH. There are valid reasons to use php. IMO they are: A existing codebase and the fact it is installed everywhere.

But HH is neither installed everywhere nor will the old codebase be compatible. Why not use a proper language right from the start? There are tons of alternatives that do not suffer from the shortcomings hh tries to fix.

fosap··on Theranos
Ok, what the hell are they selling? It says in "our tests":

Yeah. Would you go to a doctor that is specialized on "cancer and stuff"? I wouldn't. This is as unspecific as one can get.

fosap··on Non-English-based programming languages
Ok, two modifiers are proably more annoying. Is the Alt-Gr plane not big enough? I have serveral Symbols there that i never ever need, like ðæł¶ŧ←↓→øħħ̣ĸ . Are there essential Cyrillic characters?
fosap··on Non-English-based programming languages
Sorry, but the thing about the layout is BS. I code with a german layout. You have the use the Alt-Gr modifier a lot, but in the end it's not harder to use than a shift key.
fosap··on Non-English-based programming languages
How many cases has english? While there are some artifacts like "whom", "I" vs "me", about two.
fosap··on The Temple Operating System
But the OS is real. The author is indeed strange. Some say he is schizophrenic.
fosap··on He got 1%, we can't hire him
But psychiatry and psychology do not have much in common.

Psychiatrists are medicals doctors treating the organ "brain". It's pretty much interchangeable with neuroscience. And before once changes, one should reason very carefully, because they are completely different, and medical school is very hard, while one says that psychology tends to be easy. Also there is not much new about this approach. It's probably as old as psychology. Maybe one could say psychology developed from the former. Pawlov for example was a physiologist.

/e Well, no they are not interchangeable. A psychiatrists does not research about bionic eyes. But the way they see human psyche is pretty much.

fosap··on Soylent: Operations Update
Exactly. If you want to live on liquids alone you could just stick to milk. I know a cheap person that lived on nothing but oats and milk for quite a while to save money. Nothing I'd do for a new laptop or other equipment.
fosap··on Show HN: I designed a language for code golf, compiling to Common Lisp
I do not have many experience with postfix languages. I mostly use RPL for simple ad-hoc programs, and I dynamic stack effects all the time. Mostly for logging and for error messages. In the "real world" one would not do that, so maybe I'm overestimating it.
fosap··on Show HN: I designed a language for code golf, compiling to Common Lisp
That is probably because you have no font installed with a rho in it.
fosap··on Show HN: I designed a language for code golf, compiling to Common Lisp
IMO a types stack languages does not make much sense. If the stack side effect is typed a function does alway have to return the same number of arguments and consume the same number. That IMO takes the by far biggest advantage of postfix languages away.
fosap··on Show HN: I designed a language for code golf, compiling to Common Lisp
I'm a big fan of my HP-28 calc and it's RPL. The programming language might seem odd, but on a device with (soft) keys that map to commands it makes sense.

I was thinking about building my own physical calculator (i don't like to use smart phones for that, there is not nearly enough space for keys, and the keys give not appropriate feedback). I was looking for languages to use and I didn't find anything suitable. Forth was too raw. I didn't like factor, it seem unsuitable for a calculator. OpenRPL was, i don't know why, odd. This language, once it add other number types, and allow to omit the map, APL style, looks very promising.

But writing a whole calculator software, with the menus and integrating the programming language, ability to plot functions, inspect variables and so on, was not a weekend project as first thought because the language has to be integrated deeply.

fosap··on Reddit has the killer social network feature: anonymity
I'm not the person you addressed, but I would. And just a single glimpse at facebook (or twitter or a newspaper comment column) shows people will show horrible, socially absolutely unacceptable behavior on the internet, even if their real name is attaced. I think facebook has worse manners than reddit. The believe that real names would increase the quality of the content or the manners is IMO back up by nothing but wishful thinking.
