My father is 63, raised three children and has had a successful long marriage and retired from a good career. He also goes works out daily and did for most of my childhood. He didn't make exercise his number one priority.
to add another datapoint to this, the only movie that's ever made me cry is Wall-E. I felt so sad for him at the beginning of it, all alone and trying to complete an impossible, unappreciated task.
I'm sure there are objectively sadder movies out there, but not for me.

As a person outside the United States, America appears to me like a very dangerous place to be pregnant in, and what's even wilder is that people (men?) appear largely unaware of it. Regardless of whether you think it's right to convict an addict for a miscarriage or to convict a woman for seeking an abortion or for having a spontaneous one, these are all examples of the environment in which having menstrual data fall into the wrong hands could bring about significant harm. Your proposed defence reads wildly naive and woefully inadequate to me given all this.

wow, what a horrible way to add insult to injury
I also remember what it was like to be in University and I know several of my classmates would have done this if it had been available. Human nature has not fundamentally changed in the 13 years since I finished school.
edit: just realized I skipped a word while reading and you said client. I know some people use it to manage all email (including from gmail accounts) but that's not actually my use case.
I am trying to put into words something here, and forgive me if I fail, but this discussion about what internal politics would look like in a hypothetical US that included Canada feels quite disrespectful to me. I think it's because it reads like an attempt to normalize the rhetoric, even when it isn't (based on the rest of your post).
