fldskfjdslkfj··on Israel, Hamas reach ceasefire deal to end 15 months of war in Gaza
> Also Jewish people started burning down buildings full of Arabs during the war.

Citation needed.

> You literally have to be Jewish to buy land

False.

> They don't have a right to own land in 90% of the country.

False. It's true only to 13% of the land which is owned by JNF: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racism_in_Israel#Land_ownershi...

fldskfjdslkfj··on Israel, Hamas reach ceasefire deal to end 15 months of war in Gaza
> The Arabs in Israel get token rights.

That's just false. The Arab minority in Israel has right to vote, the right to establish political parties, freedom of expression, freedom of association, free press, religious autonomy, separate educational systems, legal rights, etc.

Yes there are differences, but claiming that Arab israelis only receive "token rights" is a far cry from the truth. Of course this doesn't mean theres' no racism, but that's a different issue.

Isn't that the whole industry right now?
fldskfjdslkfj··on Meta announces 5% cuts in preparation for 'intense year'
It's a bit like a sport, you can have the skills and yet still have an off day or perform worse under pressure, so it's not just a matter of preparation.

But do you need to wear sunscreen in said glass box?
fldskfjdslkfj··on Social media distorts perceptions of norms (2024)
Are you sure about that? Seems to me the banning substances such as alcohol, drugs and cigarettes drastically reduced usage over time (for kids, adults is a different topic)

And in this case you have a handful of companies that are responsible so it will be much easier to enforce vs trying to prevent every small shop from selling stuff illegally.

I hope the U16 ban in Australia works and more countries adopt that approach.
fldskfjdslkfj··on 30% drop in O1-preview accuracy when Putnam problems are slightly variated
I dont think codeforce claims to contain novel unpublished problems.

But i'm not saying it's what they did, just that it's a possibility that should be considered till/if it is debunked.

fldskfjdslkfj··on 30% drop in O1-preview accuracy when Putnam problems are slightly variated
Easier to believe or not, thinking that it's not a reasonable possibility is also funny.
fldskfjdslkfj··on 30% drop in O1-preview accuracy when Putnam problems are slightly variated
Didn't they run a bunch of models on the problem set? I doubt they are hosting all those models on their own infrastructure.

How do you know that?

fldskfjdslkfj··on You Deserve a Tech Union – Together, we can build a better tech industry. (book)
A bunch of things come to mind: minimum vacation and sicks days, minimum wage and unemployment benefits that are adjusted to inflation, health care coverage as part of unemployment benefits, etc
fldskfjdslkfj··on You Deserve a Tech Union – Together, we can build a better tech industry. (book)
We deserve federal laws to protect worker rights, not just for tech employees.
fldskfjdslkfj··on Toronto man creates tiny mobile homes to help unhoused people escape the cold

fldskfjdslkfj··on Waymo will bring autonomous vehicles to Tokyo
Japan loves its robots, i'm expecting they'll love these robots.
fldskfjdslkfj··on Waymo will bring autonomous vehicles to Tokyo
Who says self driving cars will need to pertain their existing form? Hopefully that fact that you wont own the vehicle will lead to companies building more minimal form factors since in most cases it's a single rider and they'll incentivised by keeping costs as low as possible.
fldskfjdslkfj··on Android XR
"Very well" is subjective - they sold only something like 1 million devices, which is way below even Google Pixel phone numbers.

But regardless, i stated my position, not other people's position.

fldskfjdslkfj··on Android XR
I'll take Google and Samsung over Meta.

Until Meta stops trying to force me to open an account to view things that should be publicly available i'll never be on board with them gaining more power. Not to mention that I believe their products are a net negative to society.

Not exactly reliable sources of information.

fldskfjdslkfj··on Syrian government falls in end to 50-year rule of Assad family
Ah, lets see, Sunni countries with diplomatic relations with Israel:

Egypt, Jordan, UAE, Sudan, Bahrain and the Saudis (through back channels)

It's just a fact, there's absolutely nothing ridiculous about what I said, if anything Sunni regimes are more worried about Iran than israel.

fldskfjdslkfj··on Syrian government falls in end to 50-year rule of Assad family
If it didn't matter then all the arab nation would all be aligned, but it matters and they aren't. The Saudis vs Iran is still driving a lot of the faction movement in the region.

The Sunni world is mostly fine with Israel, other than Hamas of course, which is why Hamas had to work with Iran (although it seems like it backfired on Iran)

fldskfjdslkfj··on Syrian government falls in end to 50-year rule of Assad family
Iran are shia and the rebels are sunni - two groups that hate each other and have been battling each other throughout the middle east.

fldskfjdslkfj··on Launch HN: Human Layer (YC F24) – Human-in-the-Loop API for AI Systems
The biggest problem is that a lot of times "approval" requires domain knowledge / specific training so handing it off to some random dude will result in lots of errors, no better than just having some AI model decide.

Not to mention anything that requires a quicker response rate.

It's not even "pro-israel" articles, it's just global event where israel is on the "receiving" end, such as the unprecedented Iranian missile strike

https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=40025617

I'm not even "pro" most of the actions israel has taken, but implying that the moderation is anywhere close to unbiased is just a joke.
