1. have seen people get their laptops snatched in coffee shops, right in front of them
2. friend mugged at gunpoint at emeryville bart station, and pistol whipped on the head even after giving up his belongings
3. had someone break into an apartment in our apartment complex
4. had a drunk guy follow me & my wife, while waving a bottle in his hand. I honestly thought a confrontation was going to be unavoidable, but luckily we got home before he caught up with us
5. a friend had her old, beat-up car broken into so often, she stopped getting the window replaced
San Francisco loves to impose regulations and collect taxes. Meanwhile tax payers and lawful citizens have to not only deal with filthy streets and mentally unstable individuals, but are also shamed for pointing out the existence of any of these problems.
the only thing keeping me sane is that I’m moving out of this shithole of a city in a month.
2. Chase Sapphire Preferred - rental car insurance, free memberships for Doordash (12 months), Instacart (6 months) etc
3. IWI multivitamins
more and more, websites seem to care only about Chrome
has drawing tools become a hot space of late? there seem to be a lot of options (i usually use diagrams.net, but have also heard of lucidchart), so would be great to have some sort of comparison b/w the various tools
i'm not sure about the viability of their "search criteria" though - things like test coverage, release cadence etc are team specific, so it's hard to define it at a company-level, other than maybe small startups
In your example, monthly expense of ownership is ~2250, which is lower than the rent of 3000.
Of course, this doesn’t take into account the down payment and risk associated with home price fluctuations.
that said, options usually are available a few days after the ipo, so may not accomplish the objective
one thing they definitely get right is risk control/management - they cap individual holdings to 10%, so it provides profit-taking and cuts down single-holding risk by design
1. Kotlin replaced Java for Android development
2. Scala has become the primary language for some of the major tools in the data stack - spark, kafka etc
I’m sure there are other examples as well
I'm a happy user of Boostnote.
Sidebery is my favorite by far, because it also lets you organize the tabs in "panels", and lets you set keyboard shortcuts for navigating across panels. So you don't end up with a giant list of 50 tabs.
Eg I have 1 panel for email/chat/music, and a separate panel for each task I'm working on. Makes things a lot more manageable, since each panel usually has only 5-10 tabs.
Personally, I can't leave Firefox due to:
1. Sidebery (on Desktop)
2. Night-mode (on Mobile)
Firstly, you can bind it to a hotkey, so don't have to type "how do i" before the query
Secondly, it updates the list of results as you type. Then you can select the one that seems to be the most relevant to open it in the browser (with a hotkey)
