fibo··on Static Hosting with Amazon S3 and Cloudfront
I also use S3, add also a bucket named www.example.com that redirects to example.com bucket.
fibo··on MINIX – The most popular OS in the world, thanks to Intel
LOL, so who wins the Tanenbaum–Torvalds debate?
fibo··on The Uncanny Resurrection of Dungeons and Dragons
I cannot suggest a comparison list. I can tell you I played D&D but I liked more Stormbringer (both are Fantasy) and even more Cyberpunk2020.
fibo··on Show HN: Metaballs
there is a popular vvvv shader that implements metballs, see https://vvvv.org/blog/debug2-2
fibo··on Redshift vs. BigQuery vs. Snowflake benchmark
I am using Redshift since two years and, as every database has its own SQL dialect and its own tricks, but it is a really good product. It is a pity that Amazon forked early PostgreSQL v8 and not PostgreSQL v9 (with array support) but if I think about databases I used before (I was admin of a Netezza instance and user of an Oracle instance, they were Data Warehouses too) I realize it is a really big step forward that now we can create with few clicks and witha really fast provisioning time, a database that took days, even month (contracts, waiting they arrive to datacenter, DBAs configuring it, installing it, etc) to have it up and running, that now thinking about Redshift or Big Query it seems to live in another era.
fibo··on GeoGebra Augmented Reality
How, there is a Klein Bottle there
fibo··on HomeBrew Analytics – top 1000 packages installed over last year
Nice stats, also the single software version update frequency should be considered. For example I installed both node and vim, the latest only once.
fibo··on A Game of Life on Penrose Tilings
In the paper there is also a way to build a Penrose tiling using functions, really interesting. Thank you again for sharing it!
fibo··on A Game of Life on Penrose Tilings
Thank you very much, I guess Conway wrote many articles about GoL. I am sorry I have no reference about them, maybe you can find some in the GoL wiki here http://conwaylife.com/w/index.php?title=Main_Page
fibo··on A Game of Life on Penrose Tilings
Maybe someone is interested in this package I created. It can implement any kind of Game of Life: https://github.com/fibo/games-of-life
fibo··on A Game of Life on Penrose Tilings
I read that Penrose was planning to create a kid game with his tilings.
fibo··on Async Iterators: These Promises Are Killing My Performance
For efficient text processing the only language that I'd use is Perl5.
fibo··on The Octonions (2001)
I love Octonions, I am implementing them in JavaScript http://g14n.info/algebra/
fibo··on Serverless: A lesson learned the hard way
I have a 5$ AWS billing alarm.
fibo··on LaTeX Math in MS Office
Finally! Good job MicroSoft.
fibo··on Browser Extensions Standard
Looks a really good idea
fibo··on The Principles of Mathematics (1903)
I have this book, I recommend it especially if you like math and you are a teenager.
fibo··on React State vs. Redux State: When and Why?
Use both, React for internal component state, Redux for global state that could be serialized.
fibo··on Elliptic Curves
From a math point of view are interesting cause since are equations of third grade, any line in a projective space will intersect them in three points.

That is the feature, it means they can define a binary operator that given two points returns a point, the third intersection with a line. This opens up a Pandora's gift.

fibo··on Svgi – An SVG inspection tool
Good work, you maybe interested also in this package to generate SVG serverside http://g14n.info/SVGx/
fibo··on Npm v5.0.0 released
LOL
fibo··on Introducing Surface Laptop
I use a Chromebook and it is great, also for the price. I think MS will not succed with a 999$ semi laptop.
fibo··on An experienced Javascript developer’s account of learning React
By the way, the author develops a great web tool called Riot.
fibo··on Italy’s Struggling Economy Has World’s Healthiest People
I am italian, living in Italy. A part that we have a lot of taxes, if Italy had not 40% of taxes on my salary, probably economy will be better than Germany. There are a lot of corrupt politicians.

A part that, I am 38 and everybody says I look around 5 years younger, I am trying to understand why. It would be really interesting to know it, so I could keep going in the same direction. Maybe cause i always try to avoid stress? Maybe cause I always arrive 5 minutes late? Maybe cause I always try to joke and laugh every day? I do not know, I would like to advice others as well.

fibo··on The Mandelwat Set
MandelBrot WebGL2 shader here! https://github.com/fibo/mandelbrot-webgl2

you need Canary.

fibo··on Dawson – A Serverless Web Framework for Node.js on AWS
I saw the first talk from its author in Milan, the feature I like most is that it emulates AWS Lambda locally with a Docker.
fibo··on Buck – A build system developed and used by Facebook
I agree with the comments in this thread, and I add that Facebook knows fanboys are stupid and there are a lot of them, so they try to take advantage of it.

> Buck: A high-performance build tool

And in the title you read "a fast build tool", like yarn, as soon as it was released it was the faster one.

F: let's use yarn/buck G: why? F: cause it is faster G: Did you already tryed it? Did you measured or benchmarked it? F: No, but Facebook claims it is fast, come on!

By the way, sometimes yarn does not work and you need to add a file to manage it. Furthermore facebook is using the npm registry, do they pay for it or support it?

Other than that, thanks to Facebook to bring awesome tools to the public, like React.

fibo··on Redash – Connect to any data source, easily visualize and share your data
Hi arik,

Thank you for redash, we are using it at Beintoo (with Presto and Redshift) and everybody likes it.

Well done!

fibo··on Is a mission to Mars morally defensible?
A mission to Mars is science fiction at least until 2050 or more. We don't have the technology, we could land a 1 ton spaceship with a robot, but a space ship with enough food, water and air to let people travel for 6 months would be too heavy for current technology and crash on landing.

What is not moral is the fact that it is becoming a sort of big brother show based on no scientific assumptions.

fibo··on A story of a designer learning math
Hi all', I am graduated in mathematics. I studied a lot and also teached sometimes, but I am working as a programmer, I am not a teached, I teached to gain some money while I was studying.

I love math and I Can explain It to everyoneishappy, I have this superpotere I Can male people under stand also deeply advanced mathematics.

I noticed that a lot of people "hates" math but they like It, they have a bad Memory about Who teached them when they were young, so they say "i hate math" but they actually hate their first teacher.

As soon as somebody explain them math with Joy and without humiliation if they don't know, they really like It.

The point is that even the highest mathematician does not know, cause in math there Will Always bè misteriose.
