ffffruit··on Apple Reports First Quarter Results
One would hope that his last sentence regarding his and his family's privacy would be respected.
ffffruit··on The Simple Software That Could--But Probably Won't--Change the Face of Writing
A link to the T.S. Eliot poem for the curious minded like myself: http://www.bartleby.com/201/1.html
ffffruit··on Coder Needed for Social Networking Website
Reminds me of those posts where people create a project on one of those outsourcing/freelancing sites like "I want an eBay clone" and people reply "Sure, no problem, 2 days - 50USD"
ffffruit··on Ma.gnolia shut down two months too soon (old delicious competitor)
People have also recommended http://pinboard.in/ - Havent tried it myself.
ffffruit··on Hey Yahoo, Can you please open source Delicious?
I know. What I meant was a service where you put your delicious username and it automatically fetches all your data and merges them into one big dataset. Something to keep the data aggregated and then re-launch.
ffffruit··on Yahoo is Shutting Down Del.icio.us
I would prefer "Please Google, buy delicious for some amount and run it as-is." They would get so much love.
ffffruit··on Hey Yahoo, Can you please open source Delicious?
Couldn't we do a service where delicious users can export all their bookmarks (bar private ones if they want) and then send them onto a aggregator so a new service can pick up where delicious left. I am assuming here that technically delicious is not (very) challenging, its the data that is precious.
ffffruit··on Yahoo is Shutting Down Del.icio.us
I don't get it - Yahoo is shutting down a service where humans are obsessively tagging a shitload of handpicked URL from the abyss that is the internet these days and they cannot figure out a way to keep this alive?

Am I missing something here?

ffffruit··on Mark Zuckerberg Named TIME’s 2010 Person of the Year
He created it in 2004. The only thing FB received during 2010 was criticism about the way they handle data.
ffffruit··on Mark Zuckerberg Named TIME’s 2010 Person of the Year
Ironic if you think of how much Facebook has been criticised this year with regards to its privacy settings and data governance tactics.
ffffruit··on Ditta: DIagrams Through Ascii Art
You are a very handsome young man.
ffffruit··on Ditta: DIagrams Through Ascii Art
Have you looked at 'artist mode' for emacs? http://www.lysator.liu.se/~tab/artist/
ffffruit··on Ditta: DIagrams Through Ascii Art
The original utility on SF http://ditaa.sourceforge.net/ and some addons http://ditaa-addons.sourceforge.net/

Ditaa has also been integrated with in orgmode for emacs - http://doc.norang.ca/org-mode.html#playingwithditaa

ffffruit··on Don't shoot the messenger for telling the truth
"In a time of universal deceit — telling the truth is a revolutionary act" G. Orwell

I find the calls to get him assassinated or kidnap his son simply appalling.

ffffruit··on [dead]
But surely that does not stop the US from charging him and issuing their own warrant - something much easier to do if he's already in custody.
ffffruit··on [dead]
Can somebody with some legal background explain to be the benefits of him giving himself in to justice in the UK?

I am apparently naive and cannot fathom why he would choose to do this when he knows that there is a strong chance of him being extradited to the US. While I understand that being a fugitive with your assets systematically frozen is not fun, I am still puzzled by this move.

ffffruit··on 2600 releases a digital edition of their magazine.
I remember I used to buy 2600 when I was a kid. One of the biggest technical bookstores in Athens (Greece) only brought two copies of each new issue and it was basically a race to get it. That being said, it was severely overpriced but I enjoyed reading it.
ffffruit··on U.S. Government Seizes BitTorrent Search Engine Domain and More
Ernesto, I also like TF, dont get me wrong, I do read it and enjoy it every day.

As you say, you do have your view on certain things. My feeling is that that extreme view, in many cases, makes me wonder the actual facts. Maybe 'untrustworthy' was a bad term to use.

ffffruit··on U.S. Government Seizes BitTorrent Search Engine Domain and More
While I do respect the fact that this sounds terrible, I cant help but point out the fact that torrentfreak's news reporting has always been extremely biased, in many cases rendering the information they provide in their posts as untrustworthy.
ffffruit··on How Israel handles airport security
It all sounds absolutely reasonable (and dare I say pleasant) but how well does something like this scale? I am thinking Heathrow with 5 terminals with, I guess, 10 different entrances each where people arrive from.
