Well, people like to throw around the term Nazi much in the way. I think in general society does a pretty good job of containing the spread of that word so that _for the most part_, when somebody says Nazi, you can assume they are referring to a party that existed in Germany ~1935, or something very close (self-declared decsendents of Nazis etc) .. Further, I think you will often be checked if you try and mislabel something as Nazi, and rightly so..

It's certainly not the same as with Fascism and I would probably agree with the OP in this thread that the main is reason is that while people have seen plenty of movies about Hitler et al, the same can't be said for Mussolini. The Italian origins of the word seemed to have been lost largely due to historical ignorance..

That's not the conclusion I would draw

They are doing it for money. A student is told to do countless things they have absolutely no interest in, 'for their future'.

For me school absolutely sucked. I liked being able to meet my peers but it was like having an unpaid job where the only benefit is your office colleagues.

I like posting this Chomsky video whenever school discussions come up. It largely reflects my own feelings and experiences in school. I think for many people who say they enjoyed school, the idea that some people might look at the school system the way Chomsky does, might come as a surprise.

I believe the school systems completely fails a segment of the student population, wasting their gifts and abilities because they have created a system where docility and subservience are a prerequisite to success. If my future kids inherit my dispositions, I won't hesitate to pull them out of the standard school system and find some alternative schooling methods. The standard school system chews up and spits out countless brilliant children simply because they won't unquestioningly do what some untrusted adult tells them to.

The link provided was just an elaborate way of saying 'postmodernism is good, Chomsky doesn't get it'. It doesn't tell you what the novel 'ways of thinking' are, just asserts that they are there and require 'investing serious time' to grasp. There's no defense here and I don't see how you can appreciate this take unless you are already firmly decided beforehand and just like seeing people you disagree with pilloried

I think László Polgár would disagree with you wholeheartedly:

Interesting read if you aren't already familiar

Regarding reddit, that is plainly not true. If you were conservative minded, it would take all of 10 seconds to realise that the hive mind is antagonist to your beliefs.

I'm not from the US, and from an outsiders perspective, it is clear as day that reddit is liberal and votes democrat, and they think you are an idiot if you do otherwise.

Calling them flaws would seem to me to be a subjective position. Personality traits are perceived differently depending on what the observer is sensitive to. Somebody that is considered rude in a yoga clinic might not be perceived the same way on a construction site.
