felixthehat··on Blender 3.2
I was reading this article yesterday: 'The best 3D modelling software in 2022'

As a blender studio subscriber & hobbyist, I'm so grateful such incredible software has no barrier to entry, especially for creatives in developing countries.

You can see this reflected in this great video of the worldwide blender community from last years blender conference https://youtu.be/uEjmbsiflMU?list=PLa1F2ddGya_8Wzpajwu1EtiS8...

  Autodesk Maya $4590 per year
  Zbrush $895
  Houdini $4495 per year
  Cinema 4D $3495
  3ds Max $1700 per year
  Modo $1596
  Lightwave $995

Just tried it on my pup, a triumph! https://imgur.com/a/bpkSTuu
felixthehat··on Native-like Navigation of Web apps
Oh this is so timely for me! I'm just building a mobile-first webapp with Vue and have been trying to solve this exact issue. Does it work with Nuxt?
felixthehat··on We bootstrapped our open source Google Analytics alternative to $500k ARR
Same, had an issue last week (which turned out to be my fault) and I also had generous help from the founders, and they were cheerfully gracious when I apologised for wasting their time. I have recommended them to several clients.
felixthehat··on Edge Chromium Release on January 2020
I saw @maryjofoley refer to it as 'Chredge' the other day which gave me a chuckle

felixthehat··on Readspike – Simple news aggregator
Thanks! replaced it with developers.google.com/web
felixthehat··on Readspike – Simple news aggregator
Ha, exactly why I stopped using a db after v1, it's been flat cached json files since then
felixthehat··on Readspike – Simple news aggregator
Just for one day...!
felixthehat··on Readspike – Simple news aggregator
Readspike has been live for 5 years with only a handful of regular visitors, this is totally out of the blue for me! No idea who submitted it, I thought my site had errored when I saw it listed on itself
felixthehat··on Readspike – Simple news aggregator
Thinking now of releasing the front end code, as the php is a little ... amateur
felixthehat··on Readspike – Simple news aggregator
Yeah I think I made it when iGoogle and google reader died, I’ll not kill it off like they did
felixthehat··on Readspike – Simple news aggregator
I used to have a day/night mode but my analytics said 0 people used it, so I removed it to reduce cruft. Maybe I should put it back!
felixthehat··on Readspike – Simple news aggregator
I should make a public trello board, good suggestions!
felixthehat··on Readspike – Simple news aggregator
Thanks Charles! Speed was my main goal, it should load in well under a second. Will look into the merged idea
felixthehat··on Readspike – Simple news aggregator
Thank you! Unfortunately I am too ashamed of my code to open source it. Maybe I could OS the html/css/js and ask better coders than I to redo the backend...
felixthehat··on Readspike – Simple news aggregator
BoingBoing too! What a lovely surprise, thanks
felixthehat··on Readspike – Simple news aggregator
Correct, it's my personal news feed (I moved from London to Brighon). Amazed it's submitted to HN.

It is single column on tablet and down ;)

felixthehat··on Readspike – Simple news aggregator
This a lovely surprise to me, I had nothing to do with the submission
felixthehat··on Readspike – Simple news aggregator
That was a fork someone took when I had my first version briefly on github, I took it down a long time ago. I believe I left some creds in :(

Author here – I can't believe my humble little pet project has made it to the hackernews front page!

I cobbled it together for myself 5 years ago to aggregate my favourite news rss feeds. I'd be amazed if the server holds up! Feel free to ask any questions.

felixthehat··on Ask HN: What are the 5 websites you visit almost daily?
Oh that is nice, I'll try testing that out locally, thanks!
felixthehat··on Ask HN: What are the 5 websites you visit almost daily?
Thanks! I thought about it, but I'm ashamed of how poor my coding is :) It's really just a php script that converts rss/json feeds to html
felixthehat··on Ask HN: What are the 5 websites you visit almost daily?
No, there's not much functionality, just a site for my own amusement really. One day I'd like to, and also make it so you can add your own feeds
felixthehat··on Ask HN: What are the 5 websites you visit almost daily?
I'd be interested to see your personal news aggregator – I too made myself a personally customised one – https://readspike.com – anyone else make their own after the death of Google reader?

felixthehat··on Noun Project – Icons for Everything
Yes, I've not tried submitting pull requests or forking code so I don't have any experience of the etiquette or protocols needed like developers must have in spades.

Very interesting point about inspirational mockups, definitely food for thought!
