federicoponzi··on Reporter: Google successfully pressured me to take down critical story
It's funny how this, at the moment, is behind the news “Google: it is time to return to not being evil” by 4 positions.
federicoponzi··on Show HN: Backburner – Bookmarks for the websites that you don't want to bookmark
The link raises a 404 error.
federicoponzi··on Ask HN: How to learn Computer Algorithms for an electrical engineer?
There are many courses available for free on Coursera and Edx to learn algorithms. Also there are a couple of introduction to algorithms from Thomas Cormen (one of the authors of the wellknown CLRS book):

Have fun!

federicoponzi··on Side Project Marketing Checklist
"6 days ago"... I'm not sure about HN rules, but isn't this submission considered a repost?
federicoponzi··on Ask HN: Will I ever find a job?
What about a remote job position? What kind of job are you looking for?
federicoponzi··on Facebook can track your browsing even after you've logged out, judge says
Not a surprise.
federicoponzi··on The earliest known versions of Dennis Ritchie's first C compiler
For some reason, I was a bit suprised for the extensive use of gotos. Thanks for sharing this pearl!
federicoponzi··on Engineering Blogs of Companies
Related, and probably easier to stay updated from these engineering blogs: http://engine.red/
federicoponzi··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (June 2017)
While I was able to get all the letters of the secret message, I can't understand how to decrypt it :( if you did, could you give any suggestions? :) Indeed this was fun!
federicoponzi··on View Counting at Reddit
Probably noob question, but:

>> Nazar will then alter the event, adding a Boolean flag indicating whether or not it should be counted, before sending the event back to Kafka.

Why don't they just discard it instead of reputting the event back to Kafka?

federicoponzi··on View Counting at Reddit
But what about the implementation accuracy? :)
federicoponzi··on Ask HN: What are some useful certifications to get?
None.
federicoponzi··on What are some good online tech communities for non-hackers?
Probably freecodecamp is your best option AFAIK
federicoponzi··on Instagram grows to 1M active advertisers
It's funny because when you want to buy ads on facebook, you spend something like 80% of budget on facebook and the remaining 20% on instagram by default
federicoponzi··on I Do Not Know C: Short quiz on undefined behavior (2015)
Before: What? I know C. After 3 questions: Ok, I don't know C. Well played sir.
federicoponzi··on Tell HN: Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas to the HN community :)
federicoponzi··on Ask HN: Using a simple password, base64 encrypted for websites login?
Thanks a lot, that makes sense!
federicoponzi··on Ask HN: Using a simple password, base64 encrypted for websites login?
The sitename was just an example! The point is to choose a password easier to remember and get in some way (using for example an encoding/hash function) a more longer random string
federicoponzi··on Ask HN: Using a simple password, base64 encrypted for websites login?
Hi and thanks for the comment! I don't actually use this method to choose passwords, I was just wondering if it could have been a good idea and if not why. Of course base64 is not encryption but I meant that an hasing method (say md5/sha1) of the website name should work as a password. If not, why? :)
federicoponzi··on Reasons not to use Uber
Thanks, I was missing that!
federicoponzi··on Show HN: Alienslike.us – Vote on what an alien society might be like
This is a funny quiz to do. Even if IMO yes or no are too restrictive. Also, the backgrounds are very heavy, I used to select answer, start loading page and press esc to stop loading of the background :D
federicoponzi··on BearSSL – Smaller SSL/TLS
I'm wondering why this isn't on github
federicoponzi··on Google's “Director of Engineering” Hiring Test
Same things I thought. His answers are amazing!
federicoponzi··on Proposed New Go GC: Transaction-Oriented Collector
What do you mean?
federicoponzi··on Writing a Simple Operating System From Scratch (2010) [pdf]
Same feels there.
federicoponzi··on Sorting algorithms visualizer
Thanks, really interesting!
