farco12··on Ask HN: What sub $200 product improved your 2022
As someone that drastically simplified their desk setup for 3 computers this year: YES. A KVM would easily solve this.

You would need a triple monitor KVM with at least 2 USB inputs. You could also get an Ultrawide monitor to simplify further, which is what I have done.

farco12··on Why Solana was decimated by Bankman-Fried’s downfall
To be fair to the Solana team, their production chain is called Mainnet Beta.

Going forward their outages should occur less frequently since they've finally introduced a fee market akin to Ethereum's dynamic gas prices. With a dynamic fee market it will be more financially prohibitive to DDOS the chain.

farco12··on Facebook paid Republican strategy firm to malign TikTok
Would you mind speaking more to this or providing a link?
farco12··on U.S. senators propose 25% tax credit for semiconductor manufacturing
Do you mind providing a source for that claim?

I've seen several articles[1] mentioning that the current Taiwanese semiconductor shortage has a lot to do with water rationing due to drought. Do semiconductor manufacturers in Taiwan not recycle water like semiconductor manufacturers in Phoenix?

farco12··on Apple has a decade-long lead in wearables
Do you mind sharing some examples that have shipped?
farco12··on Citizen’s dangerous effort to cash in on vigilantism
This is the 3rd Citizen headline I've seen since yesterday. I'd say their publicist is doing a top notch job of driving engagement through outrage to spread name recognition.

I'm a hypocrite for commenting, but it would be nice if we didn't let engagement bait like this stay on the front page this long.

farco12··on Lumber mania is sweeping North America
Since the current bottleneck is lumber mill capacity, I wonder how many new mills are being planned and how long it would take for them to start producing.

Are there any disruptive technologies out there that might allow for smaller new entrants to enter the industry more quickly?

farco12··on Ask HN: Do we need a Google Customers Union? Could it work?
I don't know about specific groups currently implementing the idea, but what you're talking about sounds like the concept of 'data labor unions' that's been proposed by economist Glen Weyl.[1][2]
